The eighth part of our Resident Evil Requiem walkthrough starts with Leon’s arrival in East Raccoon City, after he and Grace escaped the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center. In this zombie-ridden city, he must fight a Giant Spider, open BSAA containers, and collect detonator parts, including a relay, signal receiver, and distributor. Doing so will require a Cedarbrook Apartments key, a full gas can, two batteries, a repair kit, and a rusty crank, all of which are pretty well-hidden around East Raccoon City.
However, before you start, it’s important to note that this walkthrough will tell you how to complete Resident Evil Requiem on casual and standard (modern and classic) difficulties.
Here’s how to complete the eighth part of Resident Evil Requiem: East Raccoon City.
[Ed. note: This guide contains spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem, so continue at your own risk! Feel free to follow along or bookmark this page and come back if you get stuck.]
Defeat the Giant Spider
The first step to clearing East Raccoon City in Resident Evil Requiem is to get through the Applegate Hotel. The entrance is to the southwest, though you might want to grab the Raccoon City incident newspaper (file, marked with a star on the map below) before you set off. You can also find an ammo crate near the cars, a piece of scrap and a Mr. Raccoon statue in Café Oasis (next to the Applegate Hotel) and four shotgun shells, a med injector, and scrap in the hotel lobby. For now, ignore the locked container. When you’re ready, head through the revolving door.
In the NF Building, break the crate to your left for two rifle ammo, then remove the webs with your hatchet. Almost immediately after you’ve turned the corner, be ready to run the way you came; although there’s seemingly no way to escape the Giant Spider, it’ll throw you through the wall at the end of the hallway.
When you get up, quickly move into the building to your right. Be ready to slash another web, then run upstairs. There’s a crate with 12 handgun ammo behind a web to your right. When you reach the broken wall, be ready to obliterate a small army of baby spiders — the easiest way to deal with them is to throw a grenade.
As you approach the balcony on the south side of the NF Building, beware that the Giant Spider will attack you through the hole on the left. Wait for the spider to leave (it doesn’t fit through the gap), then take the ladder upward from the balcony. The Giant Spider boss fight will begin. Facing the spider, move to your right (north) to create some distance.
Try to hit the weak spot on the Giant Spider’s back (see picture below, left side). To get a great head start, run to the northeast corner and throw the red explosive toward the monster. When it runs off, follow it and shoot the weak spot as many times as you can (use Requiem if you can). When the spider’s out of reach, return to the northeast corner and climb the yellow ladder.
There’s another red explosive here, but beware that the Giant Spider may crawl to the gap on your left before you can reach it. If so, return the way you came, and use the yellow ladder in the southwest instead. From here, shoot at the spider’s weak spot until it gets too close, then return to the northeast yellow ladder again. This way, you’ll stay out of reach.
Try to grab as much ammo as you can before this boss fight ends, especially the gunpowder (large) from the windowsill in the northeast, as you’ll crash to Ridgewood Station’s lowest floor alongside the Giant Spider’s dead body.
Collect the detonator parts: Distributor location
Leave Ridgewood Station through the southern exit. Your next goal is to craft a detonator (requires a distributor, signal receiver, and relay) and blow up the large gate so you can reach Raccoon City Center. For now, visit BSAA Central Camp east of the large gate and push the button on the orange engine to restore power.
In the Central Camp, you’ll find 10 handgun ammo and two shotgun shells in the ammo crate, plus an additional 10 handgun ammo in the truck to the north and two shotgun shells in the trunk to the west. Inside the tent, find the tactical tracker on top of the supply box; this device will track the enemies you’ve killed, and convert those kills into credits to be spent at the supply box for new weapons and weapon upgrades. The Central Camp also contains the orders for the engineer corps file and a laptop to save your game.
When you’re ready, push the button next to the garage door (south side), and head inside the Logistics Warehouse. Directly to your left, there’s a small office with gunpowder (small) and a hand grenade inside. In the large storage area, a bunch of zombies will emerge from the ground; beware of the ones with throwable axes, and try to use the throwable axes on the bodies of defeated zombies to save ammo.
When they’re down, loot the bodies and grab a total of four shotgun shells from the crates, then try to interact with the mechanism (see picture above on the right). Since it doesn’t work, take a step back and shoot the yellow ring holding the container instead. Now you can climb the ladder.
After climbing the second yellow ladder, defeat two zombies and grab the green herb near the window, on the north side of the room. Follow the path to the south, fight a few more zombies, and shoot the yellow ring holding the large crate, just like before. As you do so, note that there’s an additional crate on your right leading to a green herb and two rifle ammo.
Another zombie will burst through the blue door in the south, but once you kill it, you can collect the Cedarbrook Apartments key inside. Follow the path ahead, leading to a gas-powered generator.
You’ll unlock the “get fuel” objective, but since you don’t have fuel yet, make your way up the Logistics Warehouse Roof. To the south, you’ll find a green herb. To the north, inside the yellow box, you’ll find the distributor.
Interact with the binoculars icon to scout your surroundings. You’ll need to find three objectives: one on the roof ahead of you, one at the gas station, and one on the rooftop behind you. When that’s done, head over to the elevator, but don’t go down just yet! Equip your sniper rifle and zoom into the bridge across from you. On top of a car, you’ll find a sneaky Mr. Raccoon. Take the elevator down to Central Camp. This would be a good time to save your game and get some weapon upgrades at the supply box.
Get the batteries in the Underground Parking Garage and Sewage Facility
When you’re ready, enter East Raccoon City’s Cedarbrook Apartments through the door just north of Central Camp.
Optionally, you can shoot down the hanging crate and lower the ladder to collect a hand grenade, two 12.7x55mm ammo, and gunpowder (large) before heading into the dark room downstairs.
After taking down the first zombie, preferably by stealth kill (see picture below, left side), be sure to loot him for a tracking module (common). Next, enter the room to your left to find a Mr. Raccoon statue, a green herb, scrap, and two rifle ammo.
Follow the path and kill the zombie leaning against the large gate, next to an empty battery box. As the battery storage locations file says, one battery is in the Underground Parking Garage to the west, and another is in the Sewage Facility to the east. We’ll start with the parking in the west; climb the ladder, then drop down and make your way to the room in the northwest corner (you can kill most enemies through stealth attacks), where you’ll find the battery as well as the Gal submachine gun inside.
Beware that two zombies will burst through the door as you approach this room, so be prepared to fight them. Loot the locations marked with a star on the map below to get extra ammo, hand grenades, and supply box credits (pull the yellow levers to open the trucks). When you’re ready, use the ladder in the northwest room to return to the battery box.
One battery collected, one to go; next, head into the Sewage Facility in the east. You’ll come across a door with a missing crank, which is an optional area you may access later. In this room, collect gunpowder (large), then go further down and grab the green herb. In the large open room, drop down to the lowest level. The door mechanism requires a valve handwheel, which happens to be in the nook right behind you, near the crate with three shotgun shells. Beware that two minor zombies will spawn after you grab it; best to use your least valuable ammo to take them down.
Almost as soon as you turn the handwheel, a Blister Borne boss appears, who’ll be joined by minor zombies (including a few mutated ones) throughout the fight. Let go of the wheel, and let the boss come to you as you aim for the blisters. When you’re shooting the blisters, try to pop them when there are no other zombies around to reduce the number of blister heads that you need to deal with.
Try to circle the steel pillar, then make your way past the door you just half-opened. There, on your right, you’ll find a staircase; use the higher ledge to shoot enemies, then drop down and repeat when they get too close. At the bottom and top of the staircase, you’ll find two red explosives. There’s also a green herb at the top.
When the Blister Borne is defeated, loot its body for a tracking module (rare) and use the handwheel again to create a bridge on the higher level. Be sure to grab the ammo from the small nook on the left before you head upstairs again to cross the bridge.
Inside the small room, grab the second battery and open the bolted door to return to the battery box. Here, you must open the garage door to access a new part of East Raccoon City.
Approach the dead bodies to the left to trigger a cutscene, at the end of which you’ll receive the BSAA container key. Remember the locked containers you found earlier? This key will open them. In container one (already opened) next to the bodies, you’ll find a med injector and an inventory list (file) detailing the contents of all four containers. Just north of this container, in the bus, you’ll find a Mr. Raccoon statue.
Be sure to pull the lever below the rusty crane just northwest of the bodies to drop the large structure and make a bridge that leads back to camp. Now you can easily head back to save and get some weapon upgrades.
Optionally, head east to loot container three for the Marksman 1A rifle and ammo. While there, grab the green herb on the south side of the road, and open the truck, the two car trunks (one in the middle of the road, one near the water), and two crates (one on top of a container, one near the water) for ammo. To reach container three, climb the yellow ladder onto the truck first, and beware of the three zombies inside the container — yeet that red explosive toward them.
Collect the detonator parts: Signal receiver location
To obtain Resident Evil Requiem‘s signal receiver, enter the Cedarbrook Apartments through the northwest entrance from the Central Camp. Be sure to loot the green herb and ammo chest below the staircase, then head upstairs; there’s a door that requires a crank on the balcony, but for now, turn right and drop down the ledge.
As soon as you hit the ground floor, three military zombies will spawn. Defeat them, then open the door with the crank to get a shortcut to the building’s entrance as well as the rusty crank itself. Head upstairs again, and open the crank door.
Be careful; the Cedarbrook Apartments Roof is guarded by zombie-manned mortars. Be ready to shoot the first one directly on your right after climbing the ladder. You’ll find “normal” military zombies roaming the roof as well; if you let them follow you closely, they may get hit by the mortars. Alternatively, you can lure them into a sheltered building (there are two in the first section) to take them out. The first shelter also contains a med injector.
The map below shows the approximate location of the three mortars and the route you should follow (take the stairs, not the yellow ladder). Beware that new zombies might take over the bombing after you’ve sniped their colleagues. Although you can operate a mortar yourself, it’s hard to do so without getting hit.
When the rooftop is clear, climb up to the northern mortar to collect the signal receiver and the engineer corps note (file).
When you try to leave, a horde of zombies will spawn; return to the northern mortar to easily take them down. On your way back, hit the yellow rope that holds the crate beneath the glass ceiling to get a tracking module (rare), which will drop to the lowest floor of the Cedarbrook Apartments. Before you go down the stairs, make sure to grab Mr. Raccoon inside the refrigerator on the top floor.
Beware that the signal receiver is broken. To repair it, open BSAA container two in the Central Camp and use the repair kit. Yes, you will be able to use the motorcycle too, eventually.
Get fuel at the Gas Station
Now that we’ve got access to the Gas Station (northeast of Central Camp), it’s time to get some fuel. First, shoot the yellow tape on the ladder west of the gas station, then climb up and loot the small chest. Just north of the ladder, you’ll find a fragile chest (hanging from the platform) and a green herb (ground floor).
It may be wise to loot the two ammo crates outside the Gas Station before things get… heated. Take the stairs to the roof to find a third crate, then drop down the hole on the south side. Loot the lockers, then go outside (south) to find another crate and a gas can.
Make your way back through the Gas Station. A zombie with a chainsaw will appear; shoot him to claim the chainsaw for yourself. Before you leave, make sure to collect the scrap and Mr. Raccoon statue inside. Immediately after leaving the Gas Station, take cover to the left; a zombie will throw a red explosive that sets the area ablaze.
Use the chainsaw to defeat the minor zombies, but beware that a much stronger chainsaw zombie will enter the battlefield soon. The best way to defeat him is to wait until his chainsaw gets stuck, then attack him from behind. The chainsaw zombie drops a tracking module (rare) upon defeat. When the zombies are dead, loot the small storage in the northwest, fill the gas can at the tank in the north, and open the exit to the south.
Collect the detonator parts: Relay location
Got fuel? Then you may return to the Central Camp and take the elevator upward. Follow the path across the Logistics Warehouse Roof until you reach the gas-powered generator; fuel it and open the door.
Loot the weapon crate on your left before taking the zipline to Willis Tower. There, get some scrap and handgun ammo from the old office on your left, then go through the orange door ahead (remove the wooden planks first) to get a green herb. Upstairs, turn right to find gunpowder (large) and a Mr. Raccoon statue. When you’re done looting, go left at the “delicious ice drinks” machine.
Walk up the slope, break the wooden planks on the door, and walk across the beam. Break another two planks, jump across the gap, and turn left. Although it looks like a dead end, hit the planks on the ceiling to create a bridge.
After dropping into the hatch, approach the large containers but be ready to dodge them; the one on the right slides down first, followed by the one on the left. Drop down the slope in the northeast, landing on the glass panes, then take the door to your left, leading into a room full of zombies.
Try to destroy the windows below the zombies to make them fall down. Keep your distance to avoid that fate yourself; it’s best to snipe a few windows before you’re discovered (preventing the zombies from reaching you is also handy). The two main dangers here are the zombie carrying an explosive (see arrow below, left side) and the risk of blocking your own path; if you can’t reach the exit due to a lack of windows, you’ll fall down.
When you’re ready, shoot the window below the central closet to create a slope and walk up.
A few more zombies await on the higher level. Take them down, then proceed to the yellow chest, where you’ll find the relay. Grab the loot right of the yellow chest, and enter the room left of the yellow chest to find a computer (to save your game), a supply box, and a green herb.
Proceed through the rooms in the north, where you can use the yellow ladder outside to loot a military crate before you head up the stairwell.
At the top of the stairs, use the binoculars and aim at the suspended platform to scout the exit. From here, you might want to snipe a few zombies before entering the large building ahead. You can break the chain holding the large crate (see the arrow on the right in the picture below) for extra rifle ammo and a green herb. Beware that there are two mutated zombies inside as well. Ultimately, you need to fight your way up and then drop down to the handwheel on the orange platform (see arrow on the left). Turn the handwheel to lower this side of the platform.
You must lower the other half of the orange platform too, so go downstairs and then jump the gap to the right, which will lead you into a large open space with many zombies. Beware of the axe-thrower on the ledge to the left after entering. On the opposite ledge, near the red explosive, a chainsaw zombie will spawn after a while; try to save the red explosive for this unpleasant fellow. Make your way up as defeat the zombies until you make it through the door at the top.
When you finally reach the orange platform wheel, be sure to grab the tracking module (common) from the body on your right. Turn the wheel, get on the platform, and push the button when you’re ready. It’ll be a bumpy ride as zombies will jump onto the platform; a few grenades in the building’s doorways can help.
Exit the Grimstone Building’s Basement to the north. There are many minor zombies in the water; yet another situation that calls for a grenade. The red explosive to the left may be helpful, too. If you’re quick enough, you can hastily run through the entire area and avoid all of the zombies.
Once outside, you can use the detonator on your right to escape East Raccoon City straight away, but beware that there are a few optional areas you might want to visit first.
Optional: Open the fourth BSAA Container
Before you use the detonator in Resident Evil Requiem, you might want to open BSAA container number four, the one we came across right after entering East Raccoon City for the first time. To get there, use fuel to open the gate north of the Central Camp and Logistics Warehouse:
Be sure to loot the large weapon chest, shoot down the smaller chest hanging by a yellow rope, and open the truck before taking the ladder down into the sewer (beware of zombies). Go south to get a small chest and find a Mr. Raccoon statue.
Follow the tunnel in the opposite direction, and don’t miss the ammo crate and green herb in front of the old subway car. In the second subway car, you’ll find another Mr. Raccoon statue (beware of the baby spiders as you approach). When you reach the Giant Spider’s body, be sure to open the large weapon crate in front of the stairs.
Unbolt the northern exit to find the fourth BSAA crate (fresh zombies will spawn upon your approach). It contains a BSAA emblem charm (increases firepower on sniper rifles if they don’t have a scope equipped) and a tracking module (legendary).
Optional: Crank slot in the underground parking lot
Remember that crank slot at the start of the Sewage Facility? You didn’t have a crank then, but now that you do, you may use it to unlock a small parking lot with lots of ammo and a tracking module (common).
The next part of our Resident Evil Requiem walkthrough takes you on a wild ride to the Raccoon City Center, where you must escape the R.P.D. and survive a creepy orphanage.
