Ontario park known for its turn-of-the century historic farm to host a maple syrup festival

9 March 20264 Mins Read

Bronte Creek Provincial Park is a wonderful, all-season destination just begging to be explored. And the great thing about it is that you won’t need to travel so far to enjoy its offerings. From peaceful outdoor trails with a touch of history to a sweet maple syrup festival, here’s what to know about the provincial park.

This outdoor oasis is located in Oakville, which is about an hour’s drive west of Toronto.

This park has tons to offer throughout the year, but it makes a mark in March. ‘Tis the season for all the March madness – and we don’t mean basketball, we mean March Break.

If you’re looking for a fun activity to do in the next few weeks, enjoy Bronte Creek’s maple syrup festival. It’s available to all every weekend in March and during the week of March Break from March 16 to 20, 2026.

What can you do during the maple syrup festival?

There’s actually a lot you can do! From guided tours of Maple Lane and exploration of a historic 120+ year-old house to watching candy and taffy being poured right before your eyes – the itinerary is a busy one.

Expect a Maple Show, each day at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., featuring live music and farm animals, a trip along the story trail, old-time games and activities without electricity or batteries at the Family Activity Centre, a classic wagon ride and a lot more.

We also can’t forget to mention marshmallow roasting and the pancake house, where you can enjoy fluffy pancakes and delicious sausages.

Now, whether you decide to start your day eating or exploring is up to you. Arrive early to make the most of your day.

Do you have to pay an admission fee for the festival?

The festival is included when you purchase your park permit, which is $18 per car.

“We also recommend budgeting $60 for food, taffy, sugar, and gift items for a family of four,” shares Ontario Parks.

Since it’s sure to get busy, it’s recommended that you book your permit in advance to guarantee entry.

What else is going on at Bronte Creek Provincial Park?

Home to rolling valleys and historic buildings, Bronte Creek offers an unforgettable experience through its network of trails in any season.

Outdoor hikes

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or simply seeking a leisurely walk, there’s a path for you.

According to Ontario Parks, Maiden’s Blush Trail, Trillium Trail, and Gateway Trail offer easy, picturesque strolls, some of which are wheelchair and stroller-friendly.

But if I were you, I’d take a short trip along the Trillium Trail loop. It’s one of the best places in the park to catch a breathtaking view of the valley floor.

It’s located behind the barns of Spruce Lane Farm.

Historic farm

The Spruce Lane Farmhouse is a charming turn-of-the-century farmhouse that transports you back to the 1890s.

The two-story farmhouse stands tall and serves as a living history museum. It’s now designed to share stories of the Victorian era through objects that you can find in the house, according to Ontario Parks.

Bronte Creek is a year-round gem, and it should not be missed.

Where: 1219 Burloak Drive, Oakville, Ont.
