A sea of ‘hundreds of colours’ will soon bloom at this B.C. tulip festival

10 March 20263 Mins Read

Vancouver is on the cusp of spring, with cherry blossoms and early spring blooms persisting regardless of the freezing rain or random snow. At Lakeland Flowers, the team is preparing for its iconic Abbotsford Tulip Festival, which transforms the farm into a sea of “hundreds of different colours” once its 35 acres of tulips bloom.

Starting April 13, 2026, guests will be able to roam the transformed farm, taking memorable photos with loved ones and embracing the most vibrant time of year.

“We have met so many people visiting the Fraser Valley, from the United States to South Africa, with attendance
increasing by 50 percent year over year, surpassing 100,000 visitors last season,” says Nick Warmerdam, farmer and owner of Lakeland Flowers. “It’s humbling but incredible to be a part of their story.”

According to Lakeland Flowers, the flower festival experience will include live music and painting, with baby grand pianos sitting across the fields for guests to play. On Thursdays, pianist Brenda Cottrill will perform live from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

On select Fridays, local artists will conduct live painting sessions, with face painting available on weekends.

Beautiful installations to explore for the perfect photo op include golden pathways reminiscent of the “yellow brick road,” as well as canoes, bicycles, and swings to sit on.

There will also be a giant klompen (Dutch shoes) and a schoenen winkel (Dutch shoe store) to check out in honour of the Warmerdam family’s heritage.

The Abbotsford Tulip Fest officially kicks off on April 13 and is set to close on May 3, 2026, but this date may be extended based on the weather in the coming weeks.

For the three weeks of the festival, the farm will be open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset, with food truck eats available daily.

Following tulip season in April and May, guests at Lakeland Flowers can look forward to a plethora of lupins and peonies in May and June, followed by lavender season.

When do tickets go on sale?

Day tickets for the Abbotsford Tulip Festival are available online starting March 15, 2026, and season passes (admission up to July 1, 2026) are already up on their website for $50 per person.

Mark your calendars and get ready to experience the best of spring!

When: April 13 to July 1, 2026
Time: Open from dawn to dusk
Where: 3663 Marion Rd., Abbotsford
Cost: $50 for season passes, day tickets available starting March 15, 2026
