‘The Hunting Wives’ Wraps Up Filming on Season 2 With Confirmed 2026 Return

The Hunting Wives has officially wrapped up production on its highly anticipated second season. Here is a recap of everything we know about the upcoming season of the soapy thriller, including production details, new cast members, and when to expect it on Netflix.

Based on the novel by May Cobb and created by Rebecca Cutter, The Hunting Wives premiered on Netflix in the United States in July 2025 and quickly became a major hit, amassing over 20 million views in its first five weeks. Following its success, Netflix renewed the series in September 2025, confirming that Season 2 will be a global Netflix Original, releasing in nearly all countries where the streamer is available.

The Hunting Wives Season 2 Production Update

Filming for the eight-episode second season officially kicked off on November 17, 2025. Production returned to the Charlotte and Gastonia areas of North Carolina, which once again doubles for the show’s East Texas setting.

Production was scheduled to run for approximately four months, with cameras slated to stop rolling in mid-March 2026 (we originally were told March 20th). With the production schedule now coming to a close, the cast and crew have been celebrating the end of the shoot, with various cast members having already wrapped and the wrap party having already taken place.

The official wrap party for The Hunting Wives S2 took place on March 1st, according to multiple people connected to the show across Instagram although we’ve still seen some filming taking place since then from eye witnesses.

Having a wrap party before everyone is done filming isn’t entirely uncommon, given the busy schedules of many actors nowadays. There’s also the case that the majority of the cast can wrap while they finish up some smaller shoots after the fact. We expect a full wrap announcement by Netflix or Lionsgate Television soon and will update should that come to fruition.

What to Expect from Season 2

Season 1 concluded with multiple character deaths, a massive cover-up, and former friends Sophie (Brittany Snow) and Margo (Malin Åkerman) ending up on a literal cliffhanger.

According to the official logline provided by Netflix, Season 2 will start with Sophie and Margo still on bad terms. However, “old secrets and new foes” will force the duo back together. The synopsis asks: “As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: Are they the hunters or the hunted?”

Speaking at the Golden Globes in January 2026, Brittany Snow teased that the upcoming season will be even more intense, hinting at a major character death. “Someone dies, I won’t tell you who,” Snow stated. “That is a wild play. Wild behavior”. She also noted that the new episodes are “more steamy” than the first season.

Who is in the Cast of The Hunting Wives Season 2?

The majority of the main cast is returning for the second season. Furthermore, Hunter Emery (Deputy Flynn) and Karen Rodriguez (Deputy Salazar) have been promoted to series regulars.

Returning cast members include:

  • Brittany Snow as Sophie O’Neil
  • Malin Åkerman as Margo Banks
  • Dermot Mulroney as Jed Banks
  • Evan Jonigkeit as Graham O’Neil
  • George Ferrier as Brad
  • Jaime Ray Newman
  • Branton Box as Sheriff Johnny (Guest Star)

Season 2 is also bringing in several high-profile additions. In December 2025, it was announced that John Stamos (Full House, You) will play Chase Brylan, while Dale Dickey (Winter’s Bone, Fallout) has been cast as Zelda Moffitt. Cam Gigandet (Twilight, The O.C.), Kim Matula, and Alex FitzAlan have also joined in recurring guest roles. In January 2026, it was revealed that WNBA star Angel Reese will also appear in a recurring capacity.

When will The Hunting Wives Season 2 release on Netflix?

Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for Season 2. Given the typical post-production timeline for an eight-episode drama, a release in late 2026 seems most likely, with the series definitely confirmed for a 2026 return during Netflix’s Next on Netflix 2026 reveals.
