17 March 20263 Mins Read

Looking for a fun weekend outing in Calgary this spring? SUPERTRAIN, Canada’s largest model train festival, is making its way to the city. You can expect a weekend filled with hundreds of miniature trains, vendors, and activities for the whole family.

What SUPERTRAIN is all about

SUPERTRAIN has been a tradition in the city for decades, organized by the Calgary Model Railway Society. The event brings in visitors from all across the country.

At the show, you can find over 75,000 square feet of model train layouts and exhibits, including classic Lionel trains, Thomas and Friends displays, and Lego creations.

In addition to the unique exhibits, attendees of the event will be able to browse through vendor booths for collectibles and supplies, watch live demos, and experience all the magic that the show has to offer.

Why you’ll want to attend

Even if you’re not a hardcore train fan, SUPERTRAIN has something for everyone. Kids will be mesmerized by the detailed miniature worlds, while adults can admire the artistry, enjoy vendor booths, and watch live demonstrations.

The event also features competitions for model railroaders, with awards given in categories such as best in show, prototype, and fun.

With hundreds of layouts and interactive setups to explore, it’s a unique event for families, train lovers, or anyone looking for a fun spring activity in the city.

Tickets and pricing

The 2026 SUPERTRAIN show will be held on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, at the Olympic Oval at the University of Calgary.

For parking access, park in lots 10 or 11 for a special $6 day rate. Once inside the Olympic Oval, the show will take place on the ice surface, which is accessible via the stairs or elevator. Out-of-town visitors can stay at the Calgary ALT Hotel in the University District, a 15-minute walk from the venue, with special rates. Organizers have shared more details on their Facebook page.

Once you’re inside, the fun begins. Spend the day exploring award-winning displays, live demonstrations, and more.

Grab your tickets and dive into a weekend of miniature magic!
