When you hear the word “residency,” it’s hard not to picture something big and glitzy, like Adele lighting up Caesars Palace or No Doubt taking over the Sphere with a full-on spectacle. It’s sequins, spotlights and a reason to plan an entire trip around a concert. That’s the version we’re used to—big names and big stages.
But a residency doesn’t have to mean Vegas lights and sold-out crowds. It can be something a little more luxurious and unexpected. Something that’s an indulgent experience you stumble into and never want to leave—like boutique chocolatier Compartés setting up shop at St. Lucia’s Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort for the weekend.

Instead of a stage, think ocean views and artfully crafted chocolate moments woven into your stay. It’s the kind of “residency” that feels dreamy and deliciously low-key, and it’s all happening at Sugar Beach from April 4–6, perfectly timed for Easter (April 5).

Throughout the immersive weekend, you’ll find chocolate-making masterclasses at the Cocoa Mill, which is the resort’s exclusive chocolate workshop. These will be led by Compartés’ own founder, Jonathan Grahm. The whole thing just makes an already luxe-feeling vacation that much sweeter.

What Other Activities Are Happening During the Residency?
Basically, this isn’t just about eating really good chocolate (although, yes, there’s plenty of that). If you’re staying at Sugar Beach, you can actually get hands-on and learn how the whole thing comes together. We’re talking tempering, molding, layering flavors—the works. You even get to make your own Compartés bar using Caribbean ingredients like toasted coconut, fresh fruit and local spices. It’s equal parts fun activity and a “Wait, I made this?” moment. And it’s absolutely family-friendly.
For grown-ups, there’s also a Compartés Rum & Chocolate Tasting, where adult sips are paired with delicious treats.
It doesn’t stop with the classes. You’ll find these custom chocolates popping up all over the resort—from your minibar to the gift shop—so even if you skip the workshop, you’re still very much in on the experience (and the snacking).
Can’t Make It to the Resort? There’s Still Something For You
Even if a trip to St. Lucia isn’t in the cards right now, you can still get a little taste of it at home. Compartés put together a limited-edition bar inspired by its collab with Sugar Beach, and it leans fully into those bright, tropical flavors. The Compartés Sugar Beach Caramelized Banana Chocolate Bar features a rich, slightly toasty sweetness, all wrapped up in eye-catching packaging. So you can still get in on the vibe without booking a flight. It’s kind of like a mini escape you can unwrap, and for just $11.95 per bar.
