Chaos Forest Abyss puzzle walkthrough in Crimson Desert

24 March 20265 Mins Read

The Chaos Forest Abyss puzzle in Crimson Desert is a tricky one, as it expects you to use skills you may not have used much prior to now. However, clearing the area is essential for accessing the next part of the Abyss, which is as useful for collecting new artifacts as it is for quickly reaching other parts of the world.

Below, we explain how to solve the Chaos Forest Abyss puzzle in Crimson Desert, including ways to make the platforming challenges easier. And if you’re getting lost in the vastness of Pywel, keep our Crimson Desert interactive maps handy.

An abyss gate appears once you ascend the Spire of Insight (but only if you’re playing as Kliff), and it spits you out right in front of the Chaos Forest in the Abyss. Arriving here also activates a fast-travel point, so you’ll be able to return here at any point or use it as a means to reset the puzzle if something unexpected happens.

How to solve the Chaos Forest puzzle in Crimson Desert

Solving this puzzle requires you to restore power to two panels, and the first part of the solution is right in front of you when you enter Chaos Forest. Approach the entrance gate, and use Nature’s Grasp to open it. You’ll enter an area covered with thorns. Like with the Spire of Insight, use Blinding Flash and focus light onto the branches until they smolder and crumble. This will reveal two power panels, one of which is missing a component. Further into the chamber, also behind thorns, is a pool of water.

Stand near the power panels, and look down. You’ll see a patch of fire on a lower level, and the bright burning bit in the middle is one of the panel components. Use Axiom Force to grab the piece, then move it into the pool of water for a second to extinguish the fire. If the piece is still on fire for you, we recommend fast-traveling back to the Chaos Forest entrance to restart the puzzle and hopefully fix the bug.

With the fire out, drop the piece onto the panel. Jump, and then use Force Palm while in midair to put it in place. If you don’t have that skill already, you’ll find it in the spirit (green) section of the skill tree. The power will be restored after a few seconds.

Now, you just need to get to the other side. The path forward is found on the island where you grabbed the piece. You can walk over the large roots to the other side. Alternatively, you can use Force Palm midair (multiple times if you can) to gain height and glide over to the other side.

Anyway, once you’re there, walk up the steps and turn left. You’ll see the now-active power generator and, on the other side of a gap, an inactive one. Leap or fly across the gap, and look straight ahead to find another inconspicuous door that looks like a wall, which you can use Nature’s Grasp to open.

Use Axiom Force on the glowing blue square in the center of the room, put it on the panel, climb it, and use Force Palm to knock it into place. The physics involved in climbing the panel are not great, so you might have to try this a few times before Kliff is positioned in the right spot for Force Palm to work. Alternatively, you can unlock Force Current in the Spirit tree, to avoid climbing altogether.

Now the power’s back on, but you need a way to keep the door open. Pick up one of the nearby abyss fragments, and carry it to the door. Use Nature’s Grasp to open it again, and while the door is up, place the fragment under the door so it can’t close all the way. This will connect the power lines to the generator outside and restore its power.

Leap or fly onto the now-powered door and use Force Palm, or use Force Current to activate it. If you climb onto it, don’t forget to hold the Resist button, which is LT/L2 or Q, to prevent yourself from flying off.

The abyss gate is active now, but before you move on to the next area, make sure to grab your abyss artifact from the altar behind the door you just unlocked. That’s your only reward for clearing this puzzle.

Just starting out in Crimson Desert? We have guides to help you learn the basics and refresh your memory on how some of its systems work. The world of Pywel is huge, so you might have a hard time deciding where to go first, but you can make your journey a little easier with the help of our interactive map. Along the way, make sure to learn a few life skills like fishing, logging, cooking, and mining, all of which can help you make money.

We also have walkthroughs for puzzles in the Abyss like the Root’s End and Precipice of Truth, as well as ancient ruins like the Dragon’s Stone Chamber.
