Bravo’s Below Deck franchise got even hotter when Captain Jason Chambers joined the cast. The Below Deck Down Under breakout star is a fan favorite for more than his rugged good looks. A steadfast professional, Captain Jason leads with kindness and compassion, making all of us want to be yachties.
Not only do we admire the Aussie’s adventurous spirit, but as it turns out, he’s also a doting dad and sweet son. In a recent Instagram post, Chambers wished his mom a very special 80th birthday. But that’s not all. He also opened up about his almost-tween daughter, Saskia.
Chambers captioned his post, “Mum’s birthday this year felt like one of those moments you don’t take for granted.” The captain went on to explain, “She’s worked hard her whole life…as a nurse, raising us, and now caring for Dad through Alzheimer’s. Always putting others first, no matter what.”

As if his sweet message didn’t already warm our hearts, the reality TV star also added, “Being able to bring Saskia back to Australia to celebrate with the whole family meant a lot to me. Moments like this don’t come around often, and you realise how important it is kidt to be there for the. Happy birthday Mum.”
Along with the poignant message, the Below Deck Down Under celeb shared a few precious memories from his “mum’s” birthday. The carousel of sentimental snapshots includes a group pic with his mother in front of her (delicious-looking) birthday cake, a family dinner out, a quick video clip of a treadmill workout with daughter Saskia, and a few daddy-daughter selfies.
As a captain, Chambers doesn’t often get to spend quality time with his family. In the first season of Below Deck Down Under, he candidly revealed, during an interview about his daughter, “Being away from her hurts every day.” The seasoned boating pro added, “There’s no words for how much I love my daughter. Everything’s about her.”
Of course, being away for his job doesn’t stop Chambers from keeping tabs on his kiddo. He also said, “I’m enjoying to watch this little girl grow. She’s got empathy, she’s got humor, she’s got adventure…I think she’s a littl me—and her mother, mostly—but I can see me in her a lot, the more she gets older.”
While Chambers and his daughter’s mother are no longer together, the captain told Chef Tzarina, during season 2 of the show, “Saskia’s mother is fantastic…We run a business together, we co-parent, and I’ve learned a lot by watching her.”
Between his Instagram posts and interviews, we’ve learned a lot about Captain Jason, too. He’s much more than a hunky reality TV star. Chambers is a thoughtful son, loving father, and so much more!
