Best New Movies & Series on Netflix This Week

A Quiet Place Part II (2020)

Looking for a weekend thrill? Netflix has you covered with the addition of John Krasinski’s nerve-shredding sequel.

Picking up immediately after the devastating events at their home, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in absolute silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the sand path.

Cillian Murphy makes a fantastic addition to the cast in a sequel that manages to be just as tense and anxiety-inducing as the original. (Fun fact: If you want to make it a Krasinski double-feature, his 2024 family film IF also dropped on Netflix this week!)

Trust Me: The False Prophet (Limited Series)

Netflix’s true crime documentary machine never sleeps, and this week brings us a highly anticipated new limited series. Trust Me: The False Prophet dives deep into the chilling story of a charismatic leader who manipulated hundreds before his empire came crashing down. Packed with exclusive interviews and shocking, newly uncovered footage, this is guaranteed to be your next binge-watch obsession.

Thrash (2026)

Genre: Thriller

Netflix’s movie output has been very quiet for 2026 (something we documented this week, where we discovered it’s at an eight-year low), but things should now finally start picking up with Thrash being the latest acquired movie to splash down on Netflix. The synopsis reads, “When a catastrophic hurricane slams a coastal town, stranded residents must survive rapidly rising waters swarming with ravenous sharks.”

In our review, which, like most others across the net, was pretty lukewarm on the title, our own Andrew Morgan concluded:

Verdict: Lower those expectations below sea level if you want to enjoy this shark-infested survival film. Actors of note don’t mean much if you don’t give them anything to work with, but violent shark attacks might be enough to quench the bloodthirsty fans of the genre.
