She’s an actress, an icon, a mother, a grandmother, and…a children’s book author! Goldie Hawn has had a storied Hollywood career that includes a lengthy list of credits, ranging from her early days on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In to fan-favorite films such as The First Wives Club and Overboard.
And while she’s known for her body of work, the 80-year-old actress is more than just a famous face. Hawn is also a dedicated partner (to long-time love Kurt Russell), mother, and grandmother with three children (Oliver Hudson, Kate Hudson, and Wyatt Russell), one stepchild (Boston Russell), and eight grandchildren.
In a recent interview withPeople, Hawn opened up about her family and her new children’s book, The After-School Kindness Crew Pooch on the Loose, saying, “My life’s mission is to be happy. My life’s mission is to be an example for my children and my family.” And what a family Hawn has! Not only is she famous, but so are her kiddos.
The mother of four recently walked the red carpet with her daughter at the 2026 Academy Awards, where Kate was nominated for Best Actress. In a sweetly sentimental Instagram post, featuring a mommy-daughter moment and a family photo with Russell (Kurt, that is), Hawn writes, “I’ve walked down a few red carpets in my life, but none felt quite like this. Walking on air. Holding the hand of my child who is so gifted, so kind, and so beautiful, while still seeing the little 7 year old girls with stars in her eyes, dreaming of doing exactly what she’s done. To sing like a bird and make people smile, laugh, and cry. How blessed am I.”

The actress/author initially announced her new children’s book venture, co-written with Lin Oliver, on Instagram, gushing, “I’m thrilled to share that together with wonderful, bestselling writer @linoliver22 we’ve created a new book series for kids “The After-School Kindness Crew”! The first book comes out May 5, 2026.” Hawn continued, “Each book will show kids solving everyday problems with kindness, curiosity, and mindfulness. The books will also include brain breaks throughout, guided breathing exercises that allow the reader to pause, take a breath, and collect their thoughts.”

With eight grandkids, it looks like Hawn has a built-in audience. So what does her family think about the new series? According to Hawn, her 12-year-old granddaughter, Rio, enjoyed the book. “She loved that it was funny, and it is funny, I have to say.” This is the first in a series of new books inspired by Hawn’s MindUP mental health program.
