The All British Field Meet (ABFM) is a fabulous event for people of all ages, especially for those who love vintage British vehicles, classic sports cars and/or botanical gardens. The show is amazing!

Where and When

The ABFM car show takes place on the Saturday of the Victoria Day long weekend at VanDusen Botanical Garden. In 2026 it happens on Saturday, May 16th.

The venue’s address is 5251 Oak Street in Vancouver. The gates usually open at 10:00 am and the event runs until about 4:30 pm. This will likely be the case in 2026, although exact details are to be confirmed.

About the British Car Show

On display each year are antique Rolls-Royces, pre-war motorcycles, and the latest Jaguars, Aston Martins and Land Rovers. There is also a wide range of vintage classics of various other models. It’s an impressive event featuring hundreds of British cars, literally. There are usually a few vintage motorbikes too.

There are also food trucks, motor parts vendors, the current year’s vehicles from local dealerships, live seminars and entertainment. This past year, there was the Carriage Trade Tea House, which served a plated high tea. All of this makes the long weekend Saturday an amazing day to be at VanDusen Garden.

With over 60 different classes of vehicles on display, more than 450 cars in a typical year, and some 5,000 car fanatics expected, the All British Field Meet is the largest classic car show of its kind in Western Canada.

The same as in other recent years, the car show’s main sponsor in 2026 is Hagerty which is an insurance company specializing in collectable cars.

Special Vehicles at the Event

There are hundreds of classic British vehicles at the event from a wide range of car manufacturers. There are always, however, special highlights too. In 2025, for example, the featured marquee was the 121st anniversary of Rolls-Royce. There were likely plenty of very old (up to 100 years old) Rolls-Royces at the event this past year.

Headliner vehicles in the past have included the Sunbeam Tiger, the Triumph, MG Sports Cars 100 and Aston Martin 110. This past year’s event also celebrated the West Coast British Motorcycle Owners Club, which had its 40th anniversary.

Admission to the ABFM Car Show

The Vancouver All British Field Meet takes place at VanDusen Garden at 5251 Oak Street on the Saturday of the May long weekend. Hours are from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Online Ticket Prices for the car show in 2026 are the following (not including online fees). The prices are about two or three dollars more per person than last year. New for 2026, however, there is early-bird, 2-for-1 pricing up until May 1st, which makes admission less expensive than it has been for years!

Adults (ages 19-64) – $26.50
Seniors (ages 65+) – $24.50
Youth (ages 13-18) – $19.50
Children (ages 5-12) – $11.00
Little Kids (ages 0-4) – Free
Families (two adults plus children under age 19) – $52.00

Members of VanDusen Botanical Garden can get tickets at a reduced rate (but need to provide proof of membership at the gate). Rates for VBGA members in 2025 were the following (again, not including online fees):

Adults (ages 19-64) – $20.00
Seniors (ages 65+) – $18.00
Families – $46.00

TIP: If you buy your tickets online before May 1st, you can get 2-for-1 pricing for adults and seniors. That means $15.44 each for two adults (including online fees) or $14.24 each for two seniors. If you wait until the last minute and pay for admission at the gate on the day of the event, on the other hand, it’ll cost more than if you buy in advance.

For people who want to treat themselves to the Carriage Trade Teahouse, admission to that costs $75 (plus $6.21 in online fees).

11:45 am to 1:00 pm – Carriage Trade Teahouse: First seating for High Tea

Below are some suggestions on how to make the most of your experience at the All British Field Meet.

TIP #1: Buy your tickets online and skip the early morning lineups. It’ll be worth waiting in line to get into this very popular event, but you’ll be even happier if you can bypass the queue.

TIP #2: You don’t have to be a car enthusiast or know a lot about vintage British cars to appreciate this event. It’s a sight to see for everyone. The gardens are beautiful to explore as well.

TIP #3: For extra fun, and to fully immerse yourself in the experience, consider dressing up in period attire from the 1940s to 1960s. If you do, you won’t be the only one.
