Summer is officially here, and Netflix is turning up the heat! If you’ve been following our coverage over the past few months, you’ll know that June 2026 is shaping up to be an absolutely massive month for the streamer. From the highly anticipated return of Avatar: The Last Airbender to a brand-new daily sports show capitalizing on World Cup fever, there’s a lot to unpack.

We’ll have a full preview of everything coming up in June soon, but first, let’s have a quick review of the currently announced Netflix Originals coming up in June 2026 that we think should be on your radar. These don’t even mention the likes of The Marked Woman, Another Self S3, or some of the other titles already lined up for the month.

The Witness

Coming to Netflix: June 4

Type: Crime Drama Series

If you’re a fan of British true-crime dramatizations, this one needs to be on your radar. Created and written by Rob Williams (The Victim, The Catch) and produced by STV Studios, The Witness tackles the tragic 1992 murder of Rachel Nickell on Wimbledon Common. Instead of just focusing on the crime itself, the series takes a highly emotional approach, centering on Rachel’s partner André and their young son Alex, who was the only eyewitness to the horrific event. We’ve been tracking this production for a while, and it promises to be a harrowing but ultimately uplifting look at a father and son navigating unimaginable grief under the glaring spotlight of the British tabloids.

The Murder of Rachel Nickell

Coming to Netflix: June 4

Type: True Crime Documentary

Serving as the perfect non-fiction companion piece to The Witness, Netflix is dropping this feature-length documentary on the exact same day. Produced by Blast Films and helmed by BAFTA-nominated director Lucy Bowden, this doc will dive into the infamous, years-long police investigation that followed Nickell’s murder. Expect exclusive archival footage and interviews with forensic experts, detailing how a severely flawed investigation led to the wrong man being prosecuted before the case was finally blown wide open years later.

Mexico 86

Coming to Netflix: June 5

Type: Comedy Movie

Perfectly timed right before the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off, this Spanish-language comedy stars Andor‘s Diego Luna alongside Karla Souza. Directed by Gabriel Ripstein, the film is a satirical, high-stakes caper about a cunning Mexican bureaucrat who cons his way through the highest levels of FIFA to secure the hosting rights for the 1986 World Cup over the United States. If you love political satire mixed with sports history, this looks like a fantastic addition to Netflix’s international film slate.

Office Romance

Coming to Netflix: June 5

Type: Romantic Comedy Movie

Jennifer Lopez’s multi-year deal with Netflix via her Nuyorican Productions banner has already given us major hits like The Mother and Atlas, but now she’s returning to her rom-com roots. She’s teaming up with Ted Lasso breakout Brett Goldstein (who also co-wrote the script) for a raunchy R-rated, laugh-out-loud comedy about two workaholics trying to navigate a secret workplace affair. Directed by Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), the movie boasts a stellar supporting cast including Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, and Bradley Whitford.

Sweet Magnolias (Season 5)

Coming to Netflix: June 11

Type: Romantic Drama Series

Sweet Magnolias Season 5 Everything We KnowSweet Magnolias Season 5 Everything We Know

The beloved trio of Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen (played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley) are officially back for their fifth season. Under the guidance of returning showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson, our favorite lifelong best friends will continue to juggle relationships, family, and careers in the charming small town of Serenity, South Carolina. However, it looks like they might be stepping outside the city limits this season—recent first-look photos have actually teased a fun New York adventure for the ladies! If you’ve been craving more Southern charm and heartwarming drama, this returning favorite is exactly what you need to kick off your summer.

I Am Frankelda

Coming to Netflix: June 12

Type: Animated Movie

Soy FrankeldaSoy Frankelda

This is one we’ve been keeping a very close eye on since Netflix announced it had acquired the rights earlier this year. Brought to life by the immensely talented Arturo and Roy Ambriz (the brothers behind Mexico’s Cinema Fantasma studio), this is a visually stunning stop-motion fantasy. The story follows a 19th-century Mexican writer named Frankelda who is thrust into her own subconscious, where her dark creations come to life. Teaming up with a tormented prince named Herneval, she has to fight back against sinister forces trying to silence her voice. The animation style looks absolutely breathtaking, and it’s shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio or Coraline.

Voicemails for Isabelle

Coming to Netflix: June 19

Type: Romantic Comedy Movie

Sony Pictures and Escape Artists are delivering this charming new rom-com starring Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson. Deutch plays Jill, a woman coping with her sister’s death by leaving her rambling, confessional voicemails. The catch? The number has been reassigned to a real estate agent in Austin who starts listening to them. Directed by Leah McKendrick, it sounds like a modern, slightly more chaotic twist on You’ve Got Mail. The supporting cast is stacked, too, featuring Nick Offerman, Lukas Gage, and Harry Shum Jr.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (Season 2)

Coming to Netflix: June 25

Type: Live-Action Series

Following a massive two-season renewal, the live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series returns to our screens. With Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani stepping up as the new showrunners, Season 2 will see Aang, Katara, and Sokka heading to the Earth Kingdom to find Aang an Earthbending teacher (hello, Toph!) and convince the Earth King to help them fight Fire Lord Ozai. Expect bigger battles, deeper lore, and a whole lot of cabbages.

Little Brother

Coming to Netflix: June 26

Type: Comedy Movie

2 Little Brother Eric Andre John Cena Netflix Film2 Little Brother Eric Andre John Cena Netflix Film

If you’re looking for an odd-couple buddy comedy, look no further. John Cena and Eric Andre are teaming up for Little Brother, directed by Matt Spicer (Ingrid Goes West). The premise is simple but ripe for chaos: a highly successful real estate agent’s perfectly curated life is thrown into absolute disarray when his eccentric “little brother” unexpectedly shows up. With comedy heavyweights like Ego Nwodim and Sherry Cola in the mix, this has the potential to be the sleeper comedy hit of the summer

Chris & Martina: The Final Set

Coming to Netflix: June 26

Type: Sports Documentary

Chris And Martina The Final SetChris And Martina The Final Set

Netflix has become the undisputed king of sports documentaries, and this one looks incredibly moving. Directed by Rebecca Gitlitz, the film focuses on the legendary rivalry between tennis icons Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert. But it goes far beyond the court. Years after their professional rivalry ended, both women were diagnosed with cancer at the exact same time. The documentary uses intimate interviews and behind-the-scenes access to show how these two fierce competitors leaned on each other during the toughest battles of their lives.

Coming to Netflix: Daily during the 2026 FIFA World Cup (June & July)

Type: Sports Talk Show

The Rest Is Football NetflixThe Rest Is Football Netflix

Netflix is continuing its push into live and topical programming! Produced by Goalhanger (the podcasting giant behind The Rest Is History), this daily TV show will run throughout the 2026 World Cup. Hosted by football legends Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Micah Richards, the show will be filmed daily in New York. Expect game analysis, special guests, and live check-ins from fan zones and the England camp. It’s a huge swing for Netflix as they test the waters with daily, tournament-adjacent content.
