Kyle Cooke Reveals Why He Felt Relieved at the ‘Summer House’ Reunion

20 May 20262 Mins Read

After spending an entire season at the center of some of Summer House’s darkest relationship moments, Kyle Cooke is admitting there was one unexpected feeling he had walking into the reunion: relief.

Kyle confessed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that he was “absolutely” relieved to be out of the hot seat after speculation surrounding his wife, Amanda Batula, and former friend West Wilson’s romance suddenly became the focus of the conversation instead.

From the Season 10 footage alone, Kyle admits he was prepared to be the bad guy and was ready for everyone to come for him, especially after hurling expletives at Amanda on more than one occasion. But West and Amanda’s affair completely changed the trajectory, positioning him in a different light both on and off camera.

WWHL and Summer House reunion host Andy Cohen said he had planned “to go deep. I said that episode where you yelled at her, I was like, ‘This is the darkest episode for Kyle,'” Andy said to Kyle. “Were you at all relieved to be out of the hot seat?”

“I think people are looking at things through a different lens…” Kyle says, finally admitting he’s “absolutely” happy to have been out of the reunion “hot seat.”

He added, “It’s such a bittersweet situation. It sucks. But yes, it’s great because I thought I was gonna have to wait a year…[to say] ‘I’m so sorry.'”

“Well, it’s like it’s so hard to explain yourself when you’re like misunderstood.”

Andy wondered what he was missing because Kyle did have several combative moments this season, not only with Amanda but also during his fight with Carl Radke. WWHL co-guest Lindsay Hubbard explained that “it becomes evident when you watch tonight’s episode, the In the City premiere…the reunion. Like he loves [Amanda] so much and the reunion is like strong,” she shared. “Kyle is a terrible communicator.”

But Kyle also says having the entire house come for him — especially those who aren’t in relationships — pushes him over the edge. “Imagine filming with a bunch of people that don’t understand,” he added.

Part one of the Summer House reunion airs Tuesday, May 26, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
