’80s Rock Band, With International No. 1 Hit, Announces Update on 2026 Tour Dates

23 May 20262 Mins Read

The iconic 1980s rock group Dexys Midnight Runners have added new dates to their international 2026 tour. The announcement came Friday afternoon via Instagram, sparking excitement among fans.

The newly added dates follow the band’s recent album announcement, which arrived on May 20. The upcoming record, titled LOVE, will mark the group’s seventh studio release and the first under their original full name since their 1985 landmark album, Don’t Stand Me Down.

Due to high ticket demand, Dexys Midnight Runners have added several performances to their upcoming trek, which originally was scheduled to visit 12 cities. The five new dates will take place in early October and will run through Sweden, Germany and France, transforming the run into a true international trek.

Steve Shaw, Helen O’Hara, Kevin Rowland, Seb Shelton and Billy Adams of Dexys Midnight Runners pose for a group portrait at Diamond Sound Rehearsal Studios in Birmingham on September 9 1982.

Dexys Midnight Runners: LOVE Tour 2026 Added Dates

Oct 4 – Stockholm, Göta Lejon
Oct 6 – Gothenburg, Pustervik
Oct 7 – Malmö, Slagthuset Teater
Oct 10 – Berlin, Passionskirche
Oct 11 – Paris, Élysée Montmartre

Tickets for the newly added tour dates are currently available through the band’s official website.

The Career of Dexys Midnight Runners

Dexys Midnight Runners was formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England, by Kevin Rowland and Kevin “Al” Archer—two musicians spinning off from the sort-lived punk group the Killjoys. In 1980, the band released their debut album, Searching for the Young Soul Rebels, a record that went on to receive significant critical acclaim and peak at No. 6 on the official U.K. Albums Chart.

Throughout their career, the band has achieved significant commercial milestones and major chart dominance. In 1982, the group delivered their signature global hit, “Come On Eileen,” a song that captured the No. 1 spot on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the official U.S. Singles Chart. This rare cross-Atlantic feat was accompanied by a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for surpassing 500,000 units sold in the U.S. alone, with the single eventually moving over 5 million copies worldwide.
