Summer is almost here in Edmonton, but first, we have to end May off with a bang!

There are loads of things to do this weekend in Edmonton. From festivals to markets to exploring specific parts of the city, there’s an endless amount of activities. No matter what you’re interested in, whether it be cats or crafts, you’ll definitely find something that will tickle your fancy.

Now, without further ado, let’s get into things, shall we?

There’s no question that Edmonton has some of the best escape rooms. We’ve got the best of them in a list for you to check out as a family, and maybe, just maybe, you might be able to escape.

We’ve rounded up some of the best hikes and trails in and around Edmonton. Whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned hiker, or just a casual trail lurker, we’ve got something for everyone. These trails are also good in the summer and for year-round walking, but we recommend them this time of year.

It’s finally open for business this season, and we can’t wait.

Fort Edmonton Park is one of Edmonton’s most historic places. The Fort acts as its own time travel portal into the late 1800s. Throughout the winter and fall, it runs a couple of programs, but in the summer, the park truly comes to life. If you’re looking to get the full experience of the park, this is definitely the time to be going.

When: Now until Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026
Time: 
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Wednesday to Sunday

This year-round market is home to over 120 different vendors, and more than 80 per cent of those vendors are local, who make, bake, and grow their own products. It offers so much more than you could ever imagine, so you’ll just have to check it out yourself.

When: Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday

UFest Edmonton Ukrainian Festival is a celebration of everything Ukrainian. This two-day event brings together not only people of Ukrainian heritage but also everyone looking to educate and immerse themselves in it. With endless activities, food options, and workshops, you’ll find yourself itching to get busy at this fest.

When: Friday, May 29, 2026, and Saturday, May 30, 2026
Time: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday

Witness the Edmonton Riverhawks’ home opening baseball game live at Re/Max Field!

This market in Old Strathcona has been around for ages, and it’s Edmonton’s most premier farmers market. Being the original year-rounder, this place offers the best locally grown and made goods as well as trinkets you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

When: Every Saturday and Sunday
Time: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays
Where: 10310 83rd Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

Queen Mary’s Market is located in the heart of Edmonton and offers over 130 vendors, as well as five individual restaurants within the building. This market takes on strong local vendors with a selection of antiques, rare collectibles, local produce, artisanal goods, and services.

When: Every Saturday and Sunday
Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays
Where: 12011 111th Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

Agora Markets is officially turning one, and it’s throwing a huge celebration market to kick off the year. There are mini-tattoos, permanent jewellery, matcha, sweet treats, photo booths, and so much more just waiting for your arrival.

When: Saturday, May 30, 2026, and Sunday, May 31, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Edmonton International Cat Festival is not only Canada’s longest-running cat festival, but Alberta’s biggest. Since beginning in 2014, the community has brought together cats and cat-lovers to help raise money and awareness for cat shelters in the area.
