Every big anime announcement from MAPPA’s 15th anniversary event

19 June 20264 Mins Read

If you believed that Anime Expo 2026 would be the biggest anime event of the summer, think again. On June 19, celebrated animation studio MAPPA held a livestreamed event to commemorate its 15th anniversary. Many of the biggest anime around are produced by MAPPA, which is headquartered in Nagano, Tokyo, so fans were expecting important news and announcements, and they were not disappointed.

Chainsaw Man — Assassins Arc

Starting with Chainsaw Man, MAPPA released a new trailer for the upcoming Assassins Arc, showcasing the lineup of unhinged killers that are after Denji. Neither a release date nor a format (TV season versus a movie) was confirmed, but Kobeni’s car made a guest appearance.

MAPPA also announced that the series will be getting a gacha-focused mobile game. The company dropped a trailer of its opening movie set to the banger “All the lynch!!! All the mince!!” by Maximum the Hormone.

Jujutsu Kaisen — The Culling Game Arc Part 2

Fans also got good news about Jujutsu Kaisen, just a few months after season 3 aired. MAPPA revealed a trailer for The Culling Game Arc Part 2, confirming that the next season is “diligently in production.” The teaser showcased what looked like finished cuts of animation, suggesting the show’s next stretch may not be as far off as one might guess. The “JuJu talk special edition” segment was also held during the event, with actors Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori) and Megumi Ogata (Yuta Okkotsu) present.

Dorohedoro season 3

If you are a fan of MAPPA’s most bizarre anime, Dorohedoro, then there is good news for you. After a much-anticipated second season debuted this past April, MAPPA confirmed that season 3 is currently in production. “SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!” the teaser trailer reads. “NIKAIDO AWAKENS. THE CROSS-EYE BOSS’ FACE PEELS OFF. SAJI BECOMES A PIE.” Important information indeed.

Ranma 1/2 season 3

Another popular series produced by MAPPA is Ranma 1/2, the remake of the iconic anime based on Rumiko Takahashi’s manga. Season 3 will debut in October, and the special stream event revealed a new trailer showcasing Ranma’s rivalry with Ryoga over their mutual love interest Akane. As with previous seasons, the show will stream exclusively on Netflix.

Jimoto Saiko! for Netflix

However, that wasn’t all MAPPA has coming to the big N, and the studio announced two additional series for the service. The first is Jimoto Saiko!, an absurdist dark comedy about a small delinquent girl in pink navigating her dumpster-fire hometown. In the trailer, she appears to do hard drugs and points a revolver at someone. Nice. It’s based on the manga by usagi / Saizusha and is headed for the streamer in 2027.

Beat & Motion for Netflix

The other show coming to Netflix is Beat & Motion, a showbiz drama about Tatsuhiko, a young man who has given up on his dream of making anime, and Nico, an indie musician who inspires her friend to once again pursue his passions. It’s based on Naoki Fujita’s manga, which is serialized in Shōnen Jump Plus.

Fall in Love, You False Angels

The studio showcased yet another new series, Fall in Love, You False Angels, a romance about an outwardly perfect student president and her similarly pristine vice president, who both harbor dark secrets. Its trailer revealed it’s out in 2027.

The anniversary event wasn’t all about news, however. An Attack on Titan Final Season special talk also took place, featuring director Yuichiro Hayashi and actor Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman). The two discussed the legacy of one of the most important seasons in anime history and shared their memories of working on it.

Additionally, there was an extended segment focused on the sports drama Oblivion Battery and its cast. The series will also air its second season in 2027.

Finally, a special anniversary movie titled My Life premiered during the event. A celebration of the studio’s history, the movie features the song “My Life,” performed by Tokyo-based band PEOPLE 1.

MAPPA continues to build a legacy as one of the most important studios operating in the anime industry today. Past controversies about labor conditions marred its reputation, but it has managed to avoid similar scandals in recent years despite taking on a massive workload and delivering some of the best animated action scenes of 2025. As the industry continues to grow, studios like MAPPA share a responsibility not only to deliver artistically meaningful work but also to ensure that the animators and everyone else involved can benefit from anime’s explosive popularity.
