Ontario Parks will be free to visit for one day only this week

14 July 20263 Mins Read

Ontario Parks will be the place to visit this week as free day use returns for the summer this Friday.

If you love the outdoors, you’ll be glad to know that Ontario Parks will welcome visitors for free use for one day only. This is your chance to explore Ontario’s provincial parks at no cost.

When can I visit Ontario parks this summer for free?

On July 17, visitors are welcome to explore the grounds for free, all day long, at any of the operating Ontario Parks.

The one-day-only celebration, Healthy Parks Healthy People, permits visitors to enjoy their local Ontario provincial parks, use their facilities, and even partake in a fun event.

“The time to strengthen and rediscover our connection to nature is now,” shares Ontario Parks.

“Ontario’s provincial parks are home to some of the most inspiring and beautiful landscapes in the country. We want to increase the awareness and uptake of the strong benefits linked to spending time in nature.”

Those who visit a park will be given a complimentary day pass and can enjoy the park facilities until 10 p.m. that same day.

What is there to do on free day use at Ontario parks?

There’s lots to do and discover within Ontario’s stunning green landscapes, but if you need some inspiration, we have just the thing.

Ontario Parks has listed a number of activities you can take part in during the free day. These include:

  • Help document biodiversity at Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park
  • Silver Queen Mine Guided Hike at Murphys Point Provincial Park
  • Yoga in the Park at Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park
  • Learn about the history and legacy of Silver Islet, Lake Superior’s Buried Treasures at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park
  • Take a mindful Hike, Bonnechere Provincial Park

You can read more about it online.

It’s important to know that you will still have to pay for facilities not included in day use, such as camping and equipment rentals.

Additional costs of swimming pool use at Bronte Creek and Earl Rowe provincial parks will also remain in effect.

Mark down your calendars for Friday, July 17.
