A three-day music takeover inspired by Nashville is coming to Alberta

21 July 20263 Mins Read

The Nashville Takeover is coming to Sylvan Lake this summer, bringing three days of live music, surprise performances, and intimate songwriter shows to the Alberta lake town.

The event will feature more than 15 songwriters from Nashville and Canada performing across breweries, patios and secret spaces in Sylvan Lake. So if Nashville has been sitting on your bucket list, you might not need to pack a suitcase just yet.

Now let’s take a further look at what will go down during the three-day takeover.

What to expect at The Nashville Takeover

According to organizers, the whole idea behind The Nashville Takeover is to make live music feel a little more personal. Throughout the three days, guests can expect to hear artists share not only their songs but the stories behind them.

And while the event mainly focuses on highlighting country artists, you can also expect a mix of other styles, including Americana, indie-folk, and pop-country. So if you’re not the biggest country fan, there’s still plenty of music to discover.

Part of the fun is that you won’t know who’s taking the stage until they walk out. The artists are kept a surprise ahead of the event, meaning that you’ll have to show up ready to discover new performers and experience each set as it happens.

This summer will also mark Sylvan Lake’s first time hosting The Nashville Takeover.

The event only travels to 13 communities across Canada each year, meaning not every town gets the chance to be part of this experience. According to organizers, the locations are chosen based on the town’s local culture, venues, and the kind of atmosphere they can create for guests, and this year Sylvan Lake made that list.

Tickets and location details

The Nashville Takeover will take place from Friday, Aug. 7, to Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, with performances happening across various venues around the town, including Snake Lake Brewing Company, The Driftwood, Lodge 43, and Son of a Beach.

There are multiple different ticket options to choose from, including weekend passes and single-day options, depending on how much of the festival you want to experience.

Weekend passes are priced at $149, while single-day tickets are available for $59. Tickets are available online now, so if this sounds like your kind of event, you might want to snag yours soon, as the festival is only a few weeks away.

The only downside of this event is that you might leave Sylvan Lake with a few new favourite songs and a serious urge to book a trip to Nashville.

Until then, The Nashville Takeover is bringing a little bit of that songwriter scene to Alberta.

When: Friday, Aug. 7 to Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026
Time: Performance times vary
Where: Various locations in Sylvan Lake, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $59
