Four of Canada’s top beaches are in B.C., according to a new world ranking

The busy summer travel season is in full swing across Canada, but those looking to hit the beach are flocking to one province in particular.

Travel media platform Travel and Tour World (TTW) recently named its top 10 beaches in Canada, and the top four spots are all located in British Columbia.

Several maritime provinces, as well as a lakeside spot in Ontario, also staked claim to some of the best beaches in the country.

“Developed through extensive destination analysis, the ranking celebrates nations whose beaches combine extraordinary natural beauty with outstanding visitor experiences, marine conservation, accessibility, tourism infrastructure, cultural richness and long-term destination appeal,” said TTW.

Canada was highlighted for its pristine freshwater beaches and dramatic Island landscapes.

The top two beaches were located on Vancouver Island in B.C.: Chesterman Beach and Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

With over 2.7 kilometres of white sand connecting North and South Chesterman, Canada’s top beach according to TTW is a dream for surfers, dog walkers, storm watchers, and anyone in search of salt air and solitude.

At low tide, a natural sandspit known as a tombolo reveals itself, linking the shore to nearby Frank Island, a local favourite for scenic strolls (though visitors should note the island itself is privately owned).

Long Beach is a 34,800-acre beach-lined rainforest located in the most northern part of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

The B.C. beach is also part of a protected area of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.

Snapping up third and fourth spot on TTW’s beach rankings for Canada were Kits Beach and English Bay in Vancouver, B.C., combining city skyline, mountain views and a bustling waterfront to be a major draw for locals and visitors alike.

The rest of the top 10 Canadian beaches are:

• Cavendish Beach, Prince Edward Island
• Singing Sands Beach, Prince Edward Island
• Lawrencetown Beach, Nova Scotia
• Ingonish Beach, Cape Breton
• Parlee Beach, New Brunswick
• Sandbanks Beaches, Ontario

“Visitors are rewarded with breathtaking scenery, abundant Marine wildlife, fresh seafood, charming waterfront towns and spectacular sunsets, making Canada an exceptional destination for both coastal adventure and natural beauty,” added TTW, which ranks Canada the 27th best beach travel destination in 2026.

The country placed just ahead of the United Arab Emirates and just behind Madagascar in the global beach ranking.

Canadian travel destinations have picked up several accolades recently, including resorts crowned the best in the nation.

However, only one Canadian city cracked the list of the world’s most livable places according to the latest Global Livability Index from the Economist Intelligence Unit.
