Critical Role Campaign 4 has been an emotional rollercoaster since it debuted in October 2025. There have been epic battles, incredible game-shattering moments, shenanigans involving bikinis made out of souls, and, as expected in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, plenty of death. With 13 players, a fresh West Marches-style setup, and Brennan Lee Mulligan as Dungeon Master, it’s no surprise that Critical Role’s latest campaign features many crazy and unpredictable moments.
To celebrate Arc 2 of Campaign 4 set to premiere this Thursday night, we’ve rounded up five of the best, biggest, and wildest moments of Campaign 4 so far.

The Destruction of Houses Royce and Davinos – Stone-Faced (4×04)
Critical Role had an overwhelming number of shocking moments in its four-episode overture, so narrowing it down to one big thing was difficult.
The arrival of House Tachonis assassins at Palazzo Davinos and their brutal slaughter of the households of House Royce, Davinos, and Occtis Tachonis (who, don’t worry, recovered) kept us on the edge of our seats from beginning to end. With the players still low-level, Critters unsure which player character would even survive into the next arc, and the constant reminder that “anyone could die,” this moment established a Game of Thrones-like tone that has persisted throughout the campaign.

The Death of Casimir – Fanged Revenge (4×08)
The death of Thjazi Fang, the character who brought the 13 characters together in the first place, occurred after he got sold out by one of his old war buddies, Crow Keeper Casimir Gavendale. As a reward for his effort, he was granted the title of Baron of Sloak.
Eager for revenge after losing her best friend Thjazi, Thimble and the rest of the Soldiers’ table hastened to Sloak. When they finally caught up with him, Thimble managed to get Casimir alone on the parapets of his castle. There, the rogue and fairy battled in the rain, and Thimble ultimately emerged victorious. It was one of the more epic battles at the campaign’s outset and showed Critters just how formidable Thimble was as an adversary for any poor NPC foolish enough to earn her ire.

House Tachonis’ plans for Occtis – Vindicta & Vale (4×18)
Occtis Tachonis’ death and subsequent resurrection in Critical Role Campaign 4’s overture were brutal — even more so because they were at the hands of his brother Ethrand and his father, Primus Tachonis. Occtis’s death also left Critters with plenty of questions, namely why it had happened in the first place.
That answer emerged during the Seekers Arc, when the Seekers table explored the holy temple of the Shaper Tansul, a god, in Tannesar. There, they discovered that Tansul had prepared his priest with instructions to turn himself into a celestial monster, a being of great power that could be wielded as a weapon of mass destruction. House Tachonis learned of this ritual and planned to use Occtis as the sacrifice needed to transform him into this weapon to use against their enemies. Fortunately, Bolaire Lathalia and Murray Mag’nesson prevented those plans from succeeding.
2
The Fake Resurrection of Yanessa Halovar – Targeted (4×25)
The Schemers Arc came with many incredible reveals, but only one made Critical Role history.
After assassins attacked King Augustus of Timmony and Photarch Yanessa Halovar at the Arcanada gala, divination wizard Murray Mag’nesson focused on saving Augustus, even if it meant risking the Photarch’s life to weaken the control of House Halovar and the Candescent Creed held over Aramán. When it was time for the Photarch to make a death saving throw (Mulligan had previously rolled a natural 1, requiring a high roll to have a chance at saving her), Murray used her Portent ability to try to influence the die roll to be low.
However, Murray’s Portent revealed that Mulligan had been lying about the Photarch getting a natural 1. Why? Because the Photarch had been faking her death in the first place. It was a jaw-dropping moment that unintentionally upended Mulligan’s plan to make the players believe the Photarch’s resurrection was real, not some con.

A Bridge is Built – Here in the Dark (4×30)
Throughout Campaign 4, a key issue has been what happens to the dead. After the gods, known as the Shapers, were destroyed during the Shaper’s War, each god’s afterlife was destroyed, and the celestials who helped ferry souls to their afterlives quickly turned mad and were forcibly put down.
The result is that the souls of the dead have been trapped in limbo and have only been helping House Tachonis — a Sundered House that specializes in necromancy — grow stronger. To address this, Thjazi Fang and his secretive group, The Cloak, gradually worked to restore the lost bridges to the afterlives that vanished after the Shaper’s War.
The first successful restoration occurred during Halandil Fang’s performance at the theater, The Hallowed Round, when a bridge to the orcish afterlife, the Dying Fields, was established. This marked a major first step in the party’s efforts to oppose the tyrannical Sundered Houses, and also a spectacular achievement after the loss of characters such as Teor and Cyd Pridesire.
