Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel has completed a $50 million renovation of the property, which originally opened in 1983 and was designed by hotel architect George Wimberley.
The renovation includes all 335 guestrooms, suites and villas. Updates span Deluxe Rooms, Siam Suites, Anantara Suites and the Presidential Suite. Guestroom interiors include teak wood, handcrafted details, silk accents and residential-style color palettes. Bathrooms have been updated with marble finishes, vanities, lighting and fittings.
The hotel added Anantara Garden Pool Suites and Villas, located within tropical gardens and featuring private pools and indoor and outdoor living areas. It also introduced the two-bedroom Jim Thompson Explorer Suite, developed through a partnership with Jim Thompson. The suite includes teak floors, painted paneled walls, artwork, an open-plan living and dining area, and a private library.
The hotel retained the 100-meter hand-painted lobby mural by Paiboon Suwannakudt. The work was painted on the 200th anniversary of the current reigning dynasty. The lobby’s 19 ceiling panels depict “Heavens in Thai Thought.”
The property’s nine restaurants and bars include Spice Market, Biscotti, Shintaro, Madison Steak Avenue, Guilty Bangkok, Aqua Bar, Mocha & Muffins, The Lobby and The Garden Terrace. Spice Market serves Thai food, Biscotti serves Italian cuisine, Shintaro serves Japanese food, Madison Steak Avenue serves steaks, and Guilty Bangkok serves South American cuisine. Aqua Bar is listed among Asia’s 50 Best Bars.
The Grand Ballroom, meeting rooms and event spaces were also redesigned. The facilities include technology for conferences, weddings, gala dinners and other events.
The Anantara Spa was renovated and continues to offer treatments based on traditional Thai healing methods. The Siam Sports Club now includes a Technogym-equipped fitness center, Pilates studio, outdoor wellness space, Muay Thai boxing ring, rock-climbing wall and functional training zone.
