Trader Joe’s New $5 Fall Bakery Item Has Shoppers Dreaming Up ‘Genius’ Ways to Serve It—and 2 Favorites Are Back

Trader Joe’s just added a new pumpkin treat to its fall lineup, and shoppers already have big plans for it.

The retailer’s limited-edition Sliced Pumpkin Sourdough Bread is made with pumpkin purée as its third ingredient, along with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and a touch of sugar. Trader Joe’s says the result combines real pumpkin flavor with traditional sourdough tang and a chewy, airy crumb. Each loaf costs $4.99 and will remain in bakery sections through November, according to the beloved retailer.

“I am going to French toast the helllll out of this,” one shopper declared in a Reddit thread devoted to the new release.

Another had already tried it that way.

“We did this morning,” the commenter wrote. “Topped with brown butter, pumpkin butter, and maple syrup.”

Others are taking the sweet-and-savory route. One shopper suggested making “sharp cheddar grilled cheese with this, dipped in dark maple syrup,” prompting another person to respond, “This is genius.”

The loaf is also earning praise straight from the toaster.

“I just had this toasted with cream cheese, and it was so delicious!” one customer wrote, describing it as “chewy and lightly flavored.”

The bread isn’t the only autumnal tasty treat landing on Trader Joe’s shelves.

The chain has also brought back its Apple Cider Donuts, made with real apple cider and finished with cinnamon sugar. The seasonal donuts are priced below $6.

Also returning is Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Mini Sheet Cake. The $5.99 dessert has a soft pumpkin-and-spice crumb and comes in a smaller, resealable container.

With a new loaf inspiring maple-dipped grilled cheese and two bakery favorites making their seasonal return, Trader Joe’s is giving pumpkin fans several reasons to visit before fall is over.
