Peter and the Starcatcher is a fantastical, Olivier and Tony-winning prequel to Peter Pan. It follows an unnamed, mistreated orphan boy and a precocious girl named Molly who team up to protect a trunk of magical “starstuff” from falling into the hands of the ruthless pirate, Black Stache. With singing mermaids, blundering pirates, shipwrecks onstage, flying cats, and a handful of lost boys, Peter and the Starcatcher is a hilarious, magical adventure!

We are currently looking to cast:
(Please note: adults will be playing children, gender of characters does not necessarily reflect gender of the actors; chemistry and the ability to imagine and play is most important! Cast will be playing multiple roles (pirates, mermaids, etc…) and creating the world!)

Boy (Peter): A boy who doesn’t miss much. Nameless, homeless, and friendless at the beginning of the play and a hero by the end. A survivor.

Prentiss: Ambitious, hyper-articulate, logical; yearns to be a leader. A blowhard with just the teeny-tiniest touch of cowardice.

Ted: Obsessed with food: the eating of, the fighting over, the dreaming about. A natural actor. Called “Tubby” by Prentiss, though not due to girth.

Lord Leonard Aster: The very model of a Victorian English gentleman, loyal subject to the Queen, devoted father, faithful friend.

Molly Aster: a true leader at a time when girls are mostly followers. Will risk everything for the sake of Doing Right. Curious, intelligent. She’ll be a great woman one day.

Mrs. Bumbrake: Molly’s nanny. British to the bone. Has enough of her girlish charm to turn a sailor’s head. Stiff in the lip, loose in the hip, fun on a ship.

Captain Robert Falcon Scott: Captain of Britain’s fastest frigate, the Wasp.

Grempkin: The mean and malodorous schoolmaster of St. Norbert’s Orphanage for Lost Boys.

Bill Slank: The Neverland’s vicious captain. A greedy bastard who’d sell his own mother for a ship to command.

Alf: An old sea dog. Something about him appeals to the feminine sensibility.

Mack: A very bad sailor who wants to be anywhere but under the thumb of Bill Slank.

Black Stache: Long after everyone else got out of the pirate business, Black Stache continues to terrorize the seven seas in search of a hero worthy of his villainy. Heartless and hirsute, suspiciously well read, partial to the poetical and theatrical, and given to a ferocity from which no good shall ever spring.Smee: First mate to Black

Stache. Single-mindedly dedicated to his captain’s every whim. His motto: “’Tis good to be busy.”

Sánchez: A hardworking Spanish pirate with an identity crisis.

Fighting Prawn: King of the Mollusks, son of Jumbo Prawn and Littleneck Clam.

Hawking Clam: Son of Fighting Prawn and Sweet’n’Sour Shrimp. One day, he will ascend the Clam throne as head of the Royal Clam Clan.

Teacher: Formerly a salmon, now an ancient, knowledgeable mermaid.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
Cold Reads: Sides will be provided prior to your audition. You will be in a group with other auditioners and will be reading together. The sides do not need to be memorised but we do ask that you are familiar with them.

SIDES FOLDER – Auditions – PATS
Please also prepare a short song that can be sung a cappella (Happy Birthday, if You’re Happy and You Know it, You Are My Sunshine, something like that); if you play a portable instrument like guitar or ukulele you can accompany yourself!

Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsals will be primarily Monday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. As we get close to the show dates (late January) rehearsals will increase as we move into Tech Week. A complete schedule will be provided upon casting.

Headshots and résumés are recommended, but not required.

Prior to your audition, you will be sent an online form for completion to gather more information, including your headshot, resume, and any potential conflict dates you have within the rehearsal and performance schedule. You will also be sent Audition Sides at that time.
