Bentboy is a TYA show To be presented at Erratics Indie Arts Club and touring to surrounding schools
Beyond the treeline and deep in the bush, before settlers have arrived.
Our story takes place at a time of uncertainty, and it is up to two young boys to save their people:
Bentboy is a disabled boy who is misunderstood by those around him.
Hummingbird is physically fit and well liked by everyone. These mismatched heroes must go on an adventure where they will be tested by all the elements, their wits and each other.
Inside Out Theatre is looking for Indigenous actors for the following roles.
About the Role/s
Hummingbird
A young boy who is popular and an example of what we think of as the “perfect” child. Age 20-30
Eagleseye/Tree
An elder who leads with their wits. Slow-moving, but by choice./ The oldest soul in the forest, with wisdom that transcends time. Age 40-60
Deerchild/Greyfowl/Anonamouse
Children villagers who are friends of hummingbird and look up to him. Age 18-30
Contract Details:
Open to Non-Union Performers and CAEA Members. Equity members will be contracted under the D.O.T. Policy.
Schedule: 4 weeks total, 25 hours/week
Rehearsals: March 22- April 2, 2026
Run Dates: April 4-April 18, 2026
Rate:
$900/week

Auditions will be held in person at Erratics indie arts club
For accessibility and actors not local to Calgary self-tapes will be accepted.
Audition requirements:
One side from the play.
A portion of the audition will be interpretive movement to music to see how you move. We ask that this not be prepared.
