Kill Jackie, Prime Video’s new eight-part crime caper, sees Catherine Zeta-Jones playing Jackie Price, a one-time drug baron who has gone straight(ish) dealing fine art in Bilbao and London. But her past catches up with her when people in her life starting being mysteriously gunned down in cold blood. Jackie soon twigs that she’s a marked woman – feared Kill Bill-style hit squad The Seven Demons is on her trail. Cue a hasty flight from London to the sunnier climes of Spain with her jittery lawyer (Daniel Ings) in tow.
The Tarantino-adjacent set-up is mirrored by music supervisor Andrew Kotatko’s soundtrack choices. It’s full of deep-cut music cues, some with a sunny flavour (Antônio Carlos Jobim’s The Girl From Ipanema, NUEVAYoL by Bad Bunny), some are ’80s anthems (Bonnie Tyler’s Here She Comes, Burning Down the House by Talking Heads) and some are Everybody in the Place by the Prodigy.
