Hyatt Centric Sapporo opened Oct. 3, 2026, on the top floors of a mixed-use tower in Sapporo, Hokkaido’s capital.
The property is adjacent to the former Hokkaido Government Office Building, also known as the Red Brick Building, and near Odori Park. Odori subway station is accessible through an underground walkway, while JR Sapporo Station is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
Hyatt Centric Sapporo has 216 guestrooms and suites, each measuring at least 36 square meters, or 388 square feet. The hotel’s design references Takeshiro Matsuura, an explorer and cartographer credited with naming Hokkaido. Design elements include a wooden check-in counter by a local artisan, straw artworks, reclaimed wood and a fireplace lounge.
The hotel includes two food and beverage venues. Matsu Grill & Bar, on the 17th floor, uses wood-fired grilling with Mediterranean-inspired dishes. The restaurant has an open kitchen and city views.
Mr. Fish by Hyatt Centric Sapporo, on the ground floor near the former Hokkaido Government Office Building, serves fish and chips made with seasonal white fish caught in waters surrounding Hokkaido, along with locally grown potatoes and craft beer. Its menu also includes fish burgers and churros for takeout.
The hotel provides guests with Local Insiders, seasonal maps and daily recommendations related to neighborhoods, events and seasonal activities in Sapporo. The recommendations cover spring blossoms and festivals, summer gatherings, autumn harvests and winter activities.
