A 10-day international festival will bring dozens of performances to Vancouver next month

5 February 20262 Mins Read

Every year, the Vancouver International Dance Festival (VIDF) brings dozens of boundary-pushing performances to centre stage at venues across the city, and this year is no exception. It’s a celebration of artists of all backgrounds, showcasing dance in a way that transcends genre.

Each performance, whether it’s spoken word, a contemporary dance group, or a solo act, immerses audiences in a lived experience, and you’ll have 10 days to check out this year’s festival.

This March, you can check out dozens of live shows and artist-led workshops by local, national, and international artists. It’s a great opportunity to support Vancouver’s local art scene, get inspired by global performances, and push your own creative boundaries.

The festival has been artist-led since its inception in 2000, which makes it a truly remarkable window into the city’s arts and culture movements.

According to organizers, there will also be free and low-cost programming to create greater access to the festival.

World premieres

In 2026, the VIDF presents the world premiere of four new shows, each with its own interdisciplinary exchange.

For one, Charles Koroneho (Aotearoa) explores “Mate Hūkiki,” or epilepsy, and altered states of perception in their work, Bird of Passage.

In BOLT, Jeanette Kotowich of the MST Territories will lead a dance-music ensemble that explores fractured landscapes with “kinetic joy.”

Chimerik of the MST Territories explores madness through fire, sand and responsive projection in their piece, SI(x).

Finally, Movers by Zab Maboungou will carve meaning out of turbulence.

How much are tickets?

Ticket prices vary anywhere from $10 to $60 per person, depending on the show you’re interested in attending. Or, you can opt for a Day Pass for $55, or a Four-Show Pass for $75 a pop to get the most out of your festival experience.

Mark your calendars!

When: March 4 to 14, 2026
Time: Shows at 6, 7, and 8:30 p.m.
Where: Locations across Vancouver
Cost: $10 to $60 per show, or $55 for a Day Pass, $75 for a four-show pass, or $200 for a festival pass
