A giant pumpkin village is opening near Montreal and it’s straight out of a fall postcard

8 September 20253 Mins Read

Summer in Montreal is officially winding down, which means fall is right around the corner. With the change of seasons comes an abundance of sweaters, scary movies, and pumpkin spice.

And speaking of pumpkins, a picture-perfect autumn tradition is about to make its way to the outskirts of the city.

Popular Saint-Zotique pumpkin village Citrouilleville is reopening this month, bringing gourd-covered houses, a corn maze, live shows, fairground games, and plenty of photo opportunities. Since launching back in 2019, the interactive farm runs every weekend through the season, making it an easy half-day trip without leaving the island far behind.

What you’ll see

The site is set up like a small town, with a church, saloon, and general store all covered in pumpkins. If you’re looking to spruce up your Instagram feed with a seasonal post, you’ll want to check out the photo booth stations by a tractor, antique horse-drawn carriage, a U.K.-inspired phone booth, and even a kissing booth.

You can also make your way through the large corn maze, try a few games, or let kids loose on inflatable bouncy castles. For those looking to take full advantage of the space, there are theatre performances, a small farmyard atmosphere, and plenty of rustic corners that double as photo backdrops.

It’s part farm and part festival, allowing guests to fully lean into the season.

How to get in

Hitting up Citrouilleville from Montreal is pretty straighforward, with the site located bout 40 minutes from the city (via A du Souvenir/Autoroute 20 O).

Citrouilleville’s 2025 season runs from September 13 to November 2, with opening hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays (plus Thanksgiving Monday). Admission is $13.05 for visitors aged 3 to 65, while kids under three get in for free.

It’s worth noting that tickets aren’t sold at the gate, so you’ll need to buy them online ahead of time. You can pick your date and arrival time, pay, and receive mobile tickets by email. If they don’t show up right away, you can log back into the site to retrieve them.

Pets on leashes are welcome, too.

Why it’s worth the trip

Citrouilleville goes beyond the usual pumpkin patch. You can pick out a pumpkin for your kitchen or front step, grab something to eat from one of the on-site food trucks, and spend the afternoon wandering through a village that takes on a different look once the sun goes down. On Saturday evenings, the site’s lights go up, giving the whole place an enchanting (and slightly spooky) feel.

And given the wide selection of gourds, you’ll likely end up with the best-looking Jack-O-Lanterns on your street.
