A hidden beach in Ontario is surrounded by crystal clear turquoise water

18 June 20252 Mins Read

A hidden beach surrounded by clear, turquoise water? Count us in! Little Cove Beach is tucked away along the rugged Lake Huron shoreline in Tobermory, and it’s too beautiful to not check out this summer.

This beach is a little different than the sandy beaches you may be used to around southern Ontario.

Little Cove Beach has small pebbles instead of sand and is surrounded by stunning limestone carvings known as karst.

According to Visit Tobermory, karst consists of “limestone surfaces with potholes and twists caused by natural, acidic erosion.”

The water at Little Cove can only be described as crystal-clear, boasting a turquoise colour and making for a perfect place to take a dip.

Like I said, this beach is pretty hidden, so there aren’t a ton of facilities such as garbage disposal and restrooms, so make sure to plan accordingly and respect the land.

Feel free to explore the natural wonders that surround the beach as well, including the barrens, scrub cliffs and palisade woodlands.

Because the beach is small, parking is limited. The area is located within the Bruce Peninsula National Park, where you can either reserve a spot right by the beach or elsewhere in the park.

Because of the location within the National Park, make sure you come prepared to pay the admission fee as well, which is $17.70.

The stunning waters of Little Cove Beach are calling, Ontario.

Where: 242 Little Cove Rd. – Tobermory, Ont.
