A literal waterfall runs through the middle of this Ontario village

19 June 20252 Mins Read

Imagine going on a downtown shopping spree and making a pit stop to enjoy a rushing cascade. This small village in Ontario is known for popular annual events, but its showstopper is a lovely waterfall located within its downtown park. Here’s what to know about Holstein, Ont.

Located in Grey County, about two hours away from Toronto, is the little village of Holstein.

Next stop: Holstein, Ont.

Here, you’ll find some of the county’s most popular events, such as Holstein Maplefest, Holstein Rodeo Expo, and the famous Holstein Non-Motorized Santa Claus Parade, according to Visit Grey.

It’s also considered “the heart horse & buggy country.” There are traditional Mennonite Buggy rides that are a must if you’re in the area.

Stop by the Holstein General Store, the Olde Schoolhouse Gallery or play a few rounds at the Mount Forest Golf Club.

But the showstopper is Holstein Dam.

Chasing waterfalls

According to Visit Grey, Holstein Dam Falls cascades over a charming dam fed by the mill pond on Norman Reeves Creek.

You’ll find this scenic waterfall tucked right into Holstein Jubilee Park, located in the heart of downtown Holstein..

“The Park has viewing areas for the waterfall, dam and mill pond,” shares Visit Grey.

“The best view of the waterfalls is from just downstream of the falls at the entrance to the park. You can also peer down on the waterfall from the old railway trail that runs along the top of the dam.”

While you’re in the park, you can enjoy its picnic areas, a pavilion, a ball diamond, playground equipment and walking trails.

This is a natural view that you can’t miss.

Now, who wants to go on a road trip to this small village? It’s the perfect excuse to be one with nature.
