A massive snow hill to take over downtown street in ‘Heart of Muskoka’

29 December 20253 Mins Read

It’s almost that time of year again when the ‘Heart of Muskoka’ transforms into a whimsical snowy paradise – with a massive snow tube run. Bracebridge, Ontario, is not only a wonderful small town, but it’s also the home of the annual Fire and Ice winter carnival. It’s a hit every year, known for stunning fireworks, ice displays, skating and a street-turned-snow hill.

The Fire and Ice Festival is returning to Bracebridge this Jan. 31, 2026, along with its famous downtown tube run enjoyed by locals and travellers alike.

The annual event incorporates both fire and ice elements into its schedule, like fire displays and ice sculptures, which makes sense for its name, Fire and Ice.

What to do at the Fire and Ice Festival in Bracebridge

Like every year, there will be activities held at locations all over Bracebridge. Last year’s festivities saw life-sized games, an 80s-inspired ski Lodge, an interactive drum circle, and outdoor skating in the winter village.

And of course, there will be no shortage of food and drinks to enjoy, like hot chocolate, a pancake breakfast, and a whole lot more.

Other activities include:

  • Biergarten hosted by Bracebridge Hall
  • Great Canadian Lumberjack Show
  • Ice Sculpting Demonstration
  • Muskoka Drag Royalty Show (additional cost)

And much, much more. The full 2026 schedule can be found on the town website.

But the main attraction is the downtown tube run, which takes place along Mary Street to Taylor Road. The street will be closed to traffic for the entirety of the festival. It will transform into a massive snow hill right in the heart of downtown.

Be sure to line up early, as it closes off early. Any new joiners afterwards will not be able to partake in the fun.

All ages are welcome to stop by and enjoy this annual event. We’re still a few weeks away from the big event, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated once more information is released.

For now, start planning your trip!

When: Jan. 31, 2026
Where: Bracebridge, Ont.
Cost: $8 (6+)
