A massive waterfront night market is taking over Toronto next weekend, Canada Reviews

6 August 20263 Mins Read

Toronto’s waterfront is a staple in our summer itineraries, but mid–August, it transforms into the warm weather event of the season. If you like night markets, pan-Asian culture, food and music, this one is definitely going to be up your alley.

For three days only from Aug. 14–16, Hotel X will be hosting the returning 17th annual Toronto Waterfront Night Market (WNMFEST). This night market is second best only to some of the iconic street-style night markets in parts of Asia, so if you’re wanting to experience a different part of the world, you need to check it out.

The VIP weekend pass is on sale now, and it’ll get you a whole ton — whether you’re there for the cool art or the chance to eat or drink something new.

In fact, did someone say soju bombs? If you’re a foodie, the Signature Pan-Asian Food Festival will be a huge highlight. Find traditional street eats, local cocktail choices and more. What makes it better is that you’ll be immersed in the view of live art performances and displays.

Not only that, but you’ll be guaranteed the pleasure of watching nightly dragon and lion dances as part of the festival’s WuLan Cultural Extravaganza, an experience like no other in Toronto.

Perhaps the most unique part of the WNMFEST, however, is the Illuminasian Floating Lantern Festival, which is as vibey as it sounds and an annual tradition. Your ticket will include a complimentary LED lantern, which you’ll be able to release into the waters of the festival’s custom Illuminasian Floating Lantern Pond., just after sunset.

There are plenty of other events to look forward to at WNMFEST this year too, such as the opportunity to celebrate the Qixi Double Seventh Festival, also known as Chinese Valentine’s. Plus, check out the Kre8ions Artisan Market, where you can stroll by the garden and see some work of the various independent makers and fine artists featured at the festival.

This music-filled weekend will also feature legendary headlining musical acts. That’ll include some big names like Bling Empire’s Kim Lee, who will be bringing an open format set to the stage, or Toronto-based Viet-Czech DJ DCR MILDA.

WNMFEST’s Friday and Saturday nights will be strictly 19 years of age and older, and Sunday is all ages. You can buy tickets here and check out dates and times for all the anticipated events, starting at $18.95.
