A new craft fair that’s free to attend is coming to Vancouver’s beloved botanical garden

9 May 20252 Mins Read

Recently named one of the most vibrant gardens in North America, VanDusen Botanical Garden is home to over 7,500 plant species from across the globe, attracting visitors far and wide. Spring is one of the best times of year to visit, and now there’s a new local event to check out as we transition to the warmer months: Craft in the Garden, a new craft fair that’s completely free to attend.

The curated fair will feature the work of 29 talented local artists, whose handcrafted goods will be available for purchase. Taking place at the Floral Hall, the event will be led by award-winning Vancouver artist Kaarina Talvila. It will offer visitors a chance to peruse a diverse array of contemporary crafts, from ceramics and textiles to jewellery and fashion.

“This event is a celebration of creativity, community, and the incredible talent we have right here in Vancouver,” says Talvila. “We’re excited to be able to give Vancouverites an opportunity to browse and shop one-of-a-kind handmade goods in this showcase of extraordinary local talent.”

Organizers note that many of the featured artists are internationally recognized, including Langley ceramic artist Elaine Brewer-White, East Vancouver jewellery designer Suzanne Nairne, and Big Eddy Glassworks from Revelstoke.

So if you’re looking to pick up a couple of gifts or explore B.C.’s diverse artistic talents, there will be plenty of one-of-a-kind pieces to choose from.

In addition to the craft fair, garden visitors can roam VanDusen’s iconic hedge maze, grab a bite at the Garden Café, or treat themselves to a tasty meal at Shaughnessy Restaurant.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Admission and parking are free.

When: Sunday, June 8, 2025
Where: 5251 Oak St.
Cost: Free admission and parking
