A new Toronto-themed song for 2026 FIFA World Cup has been revealed

10 March 20252 Mins Read

If you find yourself hanging out in Toronto over the next 16 months or so, there’s a decent chance you might hear the city’s new theme song and might not even know it.

No, the city itself isn’t implementing a civic anthem or anything like that, but there’s a new track that just might end up being heard around the world.

Over the weekend, FIFA unveiled a new theme song for Toronto’s games being played at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, starting with a matchup featuring Canada on June 12 at a newly-renovated BMO Field.

The track, simply titled “Toronto Theme x FIFA World Cup 26,” is made by local producer Hill Kourkoutis and features an accompanying video touring around some of the city’s iconic landmarks and neighbourhoods.

“FIFA is introducing a groundbreaking initiative that celebrates diversity, creativity and the unifying power of sport through music,” a release explaining the initiative reads.

“This exciting rollout will build anticipation for the tournament, giving fans a daily dose of musical inspiration and a captivating glimpse into the cultural heartbeat of the host cities.”

Toronto will host six games at the tournament, while Vancouver is the lone other Canadian host city and is hosting seven games.

The theme doesn’t have any words, but offers a mix of musical styles that represent the city’s music culture.

“My main inspiration was our multiculturalism and the Toronto sound,” Kourkoutis said in a video published by the FIFA World Cup 26 Instagram account. “I love the food, culture, and I love our values.”

You’ll have to listen to it directly on YouTube, due to FIFA’s rules about sharing, or you can check it out on Spotify.
