Esquimalt is a historic district just five minutes away from downtown Victoria, and it’s well worth the visit for a myriad of reasons. In addition to exploring Canada’s naval history and a number of scenic parks and beaches, you can now officially visit a new wellness spa and retreat at the restored Rosemead House.
The new spa, Salt & Ivy, will open in two parts. This November, the 3,800-square-foot sanctuary launched with six new treatment rooms, including two couples suites and a relaxation lounge that leans on the artistic spirit of Rosemead House. Its treatments blend modern science and mindful ritual to create a restorative experience for each guest, with offerings ranging from advanced skin diagnostics, personalized skincare tracking, and techniques such as cosmetic acupuncture and cryotherapy.
Phase two of the wellness spa will be marked by the addition of a hydrotherapy circuit inspired by European thermal traditions, which will open in spring 2026.
“Salt & Ivy bridges the precision of a medi-spa with the presence of a true sanctuary,” says Tina Lyons, spa director. “Every treatment is designed to restore balance in both mind and body, where tension softens, clarity returns, and you feel renewed from within.”
You can book a massage, body treatment, facial, or other wellness experience at the spa online.
Looking to build out your Esquimalt itinerary? Don’t forget to visit Macaulay Point Battery (now part of Macaulay Point Park) and Point Ellice House and Gardens. Overlooking the Upper Harbour and Gorge Waterway, the latter is internationally recognized for its 1890-1920 era original artifacts and decor.
Starting April 2026, visitors can also check out the popular Esquimalt Farmers Market every weekend. During the warmer months, Tourism Victoria also recommends taking a cool dip in the Esquimalt Lagoon.
It might be time to plan a trip!
