A Professional Name Consultant Reveals Which Celeb's Baby Names She's 'Obsessed' With

16 June 20253 Mins Read

When celebrities experience significant milestones, the world tends to have strong opinions and reactions. Engagements, weddings, career announcements, pregnancies, adoptions—many of these special events and occasions garner a largely positive response from fans and the general public alike. That being said, baby name reveals can be a hit or miss. Some of us remember the confusion that followed Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s announcement of naming their daughter “Apple” in 2004, after all.

But there are some celebrities who impress the public with their choices—and not only the broad masses but individuals who know baby names. So, it’s exciting to hear from Colleen Slagen, a professional baby name consultant and author of Naming Bebe, who reveals the recent celebrity baby name she’s “obsessed” with.

Here, the @NamingBebe social media sensation also shares tips and tricks with Parade, explaining what parents should keep in mind while they’re naming kids—whether it’s their first or fifth child.

The Recent Celebrity Baby Name She’s ‘Obsessed’ With

“I loved Mandy Moore’s choice of Louise with the nickname Lou,” Slagen tells Parade. “Especially with big brothers Ozzy and Gus…she nailed the grandpa/grandma chic vibe.”

Moore is married to singer Taylor Goldsmith, and their children’s full names are:

  • August “Gus” Harrison Goldsmith
  • Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett Goldsmith
  • Louise “Lou” Everett Goldsmith

And another favorite celeb baby name?

“I loved Pookie and Jett’s choice of Paloma,” Slagen says of the popular social media stars, who welcomed their daughter in November 2024. “It feels ethereal, strong and feminine, and I think it has great nickname potential, which I’m always drawn to.”

What Parents Should Think About When Choosing Baby Names

There are a couple of important things that parents should consider when making their baby name lists.

“Tasteful matching can be a bit of an art, but it does drive me crazy when twins are given names that sound so similar [like] Mae and Maeve,” Slagen reveals.

“The other thing I would add is that baby naming should be fun and it CAN be fun,” she continues. “It’s hard to make an aesthetic choice that you have to stick with (you can buy a new couch if you get sick of the greige one you bought but it would not be ideal to change your child’s name when they’re five). So try and take some pressure off of yourself. Establish the non-negotiables, narrow down your list and know that you could likely be happy with any of your top contenders!”
