A trail near Toronto winds along old ruins to a stunning waterfall

10 June 20252 Mins Read

This summer, we’re going to be outside! Hilton Falls Conservation Area is in Milton, just a quick drive from Toronto. The park is home to multiple trails that wind along the ruins of an old mill and lead to a reward worth trekking for — a stunning waterfall.

Before you set out on your adventure, you’ll want to make a park reservation online.

You can select your time slot and pay the entrance fees for whoever is joining you. Fees cost $10.50 for adults, $8.25 for seniors, and $7.25 for children ages 5 to 14.

The park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The trail you’ll want to follow in order to see the falls is appropriately named the Hilton Falls Trail.

This 3 km path leads to the gorgeous cascade, which can be enjoyed any time of year, but is especially gorgeous in the summer.

At the base of Hilton Falls, you will see the ruins of an old mill. Stones are all that remain of the three mills, the dam and the massive 40-foot water wheel that once stood there. Two of the mills burned down completely, while the third was abandoned in 1967.

Don’t forget your four-legged friend! Dogs (on a leash) are welcome in the area.

Snap some photos while you’re visiting and enjoy your hike, Ontario.

Where: 4985 Campbellville Rd., Milton, Ont.
