A water lantern festival will light up Metro Vancouver this weekend

13 August 20252 Mins Read

Ready for an evening of floating lanterns and community? That’s exactly what you’ll find at this weekend’s Water Lantern Festival in Metro Vancouver.

Open to people of all ages and backgrounds, the lantern festival is an opportunity to gather with your loved ones, reflect, and meet new friends. As the sun sets across Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park, you can take part in the illuminating practice, no pun intended.

Creating your own water lantern and letting it float away is a great way to manifest your goals or commemorate a special occasion or loved one. And there’s something magical about seeing yours drift across the water, glowing next to dozens of others in your community.

In addition to a collective lantern launch, the celebration will include live music, food trucks, local vendors, and a scavenger hunt.

Tickets and info

Metro Vancouver’s Water Lantern Festival will take place at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are currently priced at $42.99 per person and can be purchased online, but they’ll soon go up to $47.99 for Regular Price, and $67.99 on the day of the festival.

All tickets include festival access, a lantern kit, a scavenger hunt giveaway, and a gift bag with card games.

Mark your calendars!

When: Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025
Time: 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: 1299 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam
Cost: $42.99 to $67.99 per person
