Accor has announced the signing of Sofitel Genoa Waterfront, a hotel set to open in 2027 on Genoa’s waterfront. The project is a collaboration with AG Group, an Italian tourism operator. The hotel will feature 120 guestrooms, including 20 suites, and will be designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop.
The Sofitel Genoa Waterfront will include amenities such as an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge bar, a pool bar, a spa, a gym, a swimming pool, and two meeting rooms. The location will benefit from improved rail connectivity, which is expected to link Genoa to Milan in 53 minutes by 2026, providing access to Portofino and the Cinque Terre.
The project involves investors and developers Orion and CDS Holding SpA, as part of the Waterfront di Levante development. This marks an expansion of Sofitel’s presence in Italy, following the success of Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese. The Genoa location is part of Sofitel’s growth strategy in Southern Europe.
AG Group, which operates a portfolio of high-end properties, has partnered with Accor on this project. The Genova Waterfront redevelopment involved consultancy from Fortvny, a hotel advisory firm, to identify AG Group as the operator.
Sofitel Genoa Waterfront will be the first international luxury hotel in the city, entering a market currently dominated by independent operators.
