The Classic Hotel in Nicosia to become the brand’s first property in Cyprus
Handwritten Collection, an anthology of carefully curated hotels from Accor, recently announced the opening of its first hotel in Cyprus. In partnership with G.A.P. VASSILOPOULOS PUBLIC LTD, the hotel is located in Nicosia and will join a network of 17 stylish hotels around the world.
Since its launch in 2023, Handwritten Collection has invited guests to immerse themselves in intimate settings that foster genuine connections between fellow travellers and dedicated hosts. In just over a year, the brand has unveiled 17 hotels in sought-after destinations worldwide, including Paris, Malta, Sydney, Shanghai, Phuket, Kraków and now Cyprus. With 25+ hotels in its development pipeline and over 150 additional projects under varying stages of discussion, Handwritten Collection is well positioned as one of the fastest-growing collection brands in the world.
Located in the vibrant heart of Nicosia, close to many historical and cultural attractions of the capital such as the Cyprus Archaeological Museum and Eleftheria Square, the Classic Hotel Nicosia – Handwritten Collection offers 54 elegant rooms, a bar, two restaurants, four meeting rooms, as well as a fitness centre and a wellness area on its top floor, featuring a sauna and treatment rooms.
Hotel guests can indulge in a handpicked selection of distinctive wines, including a variety of natural wines, which reflect the hotel’s passion for sustainable winemaking. The wine tasting experiences will highlight the unique qualities of each wine and share the fascinating story behind the natural winemaking process.
The entry of Handwritten Collection in Cyprus is part of the brand’s continued expansion in Europe, with a series of upcoming openings that will mark the brand’s debut in other key destinations, such as Albania (Tirana), Germany (Düsseldorf), Romania (Bucharest) and Benelux (Zeeland and Vielsalm). Adorn Tirana – Handwritten Collection (Albania) – Slated to open this autumn, the first Handwritten Collection address in Albania, will be located in Skanderbeg Square, the heart of Tirana. The hotel will offer 25 stylish guest rooms, including six suites, complimented by cosy restaurant and a piano bar, all featuring elegant interiors.
MUZE Hotel Düsseldorf – Handwritten Collection (Germany) – Debuting in Germany this November, the MUZE Hotel Düsseldorf – Handwritten Collection will offer 60 rooms, a bar, a state-of-the-art boardroom, as well as an in-house art gallery.
Hotel Ter Zand – Handwritten Collection (The Netherlands) – Opening later this month, this intimate hotel on the coast of Zeeland will offer 53 rooms, and 32 garden suites located close to the Zeepeduinen nature reserve and Westerschouwen beach, making it an ideal retreat for relaxation.
Fort Saint-Laurent Hôtel & Spa – Handwritten Collection (France) – Set in a 16th-century building overlooking the slopes of Lyon’s Croix-Rousse, the new hotel is set to open later this month and will offer 36 rooms with city views. The hotel’s design will reflect the host’s passion for boats and will be the eighth Handwritten Collection address in France.
Tecadra Bucharest Hotel Handwritten Collection (Romania) – This 100-key property will open its doors in 2025, marking the brand’s launch in Romania, located in one of the capital’s most exclusive neighbourhoods. The hotel will be powered by solar panels and heating pumps, reducing carbon emissions.
La Maison Fraiture – Handwritten Collection (Belgium) – Expected to open in 2026, the first Handwritten Collection hotel signed in Belgium will be nestled in the heart of Baraque de Fraiture, the second-highest point in Belgium and a key landmark for those visiting the Plateau des Tailles nature reserve. The 120-room property will offer multi-function event spaces, as well as a large wellness and pool area overlooking the nearby mountain range.
