Airbnb is set to launch a hotel interface within its app, aiming to expand its offerings to include boutique and independent hotels. This move follows the company’s acquisition of HotelTonight in early 2019, which was intended to enhance its travel platform capabilities.
The new interface will be introduced as a separate tab within the app, potentially labeled as “Stays,” and will feature a carousel-style display for users to browse available accommodations. The rollout will commence with pilot programs in select cities, including New York.
This development follows Airbnb’s recent adjustments to its fee structure, which aligns it more closely with traditional online travel agencies like Expedia and Booking.com.
