Al Roker Demands McDonald’s Permanently Bring Back Beloved Item

11 July 20253 Mins Read

Al Roker is speaking out in support of a seasonal McDonald’s favorite that fans have been craving for years.

In an episode of TODAY, the longtime host and beloved TV personality shared his love for the McRib, a seasonal limited-time item on the fast food giant’s menu.

Craig Melvin and fellow hosts celebrated the return of another nostalgic favorite—the Snack Wrap, making its comeback after a 10-year absence.

“I used to love a Snack Wrap,” Melvin said while munching on one, adding that his kids will be thrilled about its return.

However, as he continued eating, he offered his honest take on the newly re-released item, sharing his thoughts with the TODAY audience.

“Well, as someone who enjoyed the Snack Wrap ten years ago, I would say this is a little different from the one,” he said, to which Laura Jarrett agreed, adding that there are not many options.

In a twist, Roker chimed in and suggested a fish version of the Snack Wrap.

Moreover, he also demanded that McDonald’s bring back another fan-favorite item for good.

“And by the way, they also need to put the McRib on the menu full time,” he said, expressing his frustration over its limited availability and his love for the classic sandwich.

Considered one of McDonald’s most beloved yet elusive menu items, the McRib, a boneless pork patty coated in a tangy barbecue sauce and topped with onions and pickles, first debuted in 1981. It was removed from the menu in 1985 due to low sales

However, the sandwich made a comeback in 1989 and continued to appear in select markets until 2005.

Since then, it has become available for short periods here and there, usually in the fall season.

The unique taste and nostalgic appeal of the seasonal snack are also why Roker has been a longtime fan.

The 70-year-old TV personality’s love for the McRib sandwich goes beyond just enjoying it.

He expressed his enthusiasm after he received an “unexpected gift” from the fast food chain and showed a photo of a half-gallon jug of McDonald’s McRib sauce on Instagram.

However, fans in the comment section urged the meteorologist not to fall for the “trap,” given that he is deeply committed to weight loss and clean living.

“Mr. Roker!!! Nooooooo, you’ve come so far on your health journey, please don’t fall into this trap!!” one wrote.

“Al, no,” a commenter added.

The reason is that the award-winning host underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2002 after a long struggle with obesity.
