AClueless sequel series is in the early stages of production at Peacock, and fans of the original are getting precisely what they want in Alicia Silverstone’s reprisal of the iconic Cher Horowitz.
Silverstone promised they will “do our very best to honor the original movie that we love and to bring something new to it” while speaking with Entertainment Tonight about the upcoming sequel series.
The 48-year-old actress admitted that she “can’t wait to step back into Cher’s skin and her fancy designer shoes” while teasing Cher’s evolution 30 years later.
The original Clueless was written and directed by Amy Heckerling, who will also executive produce the upcoming sequel series alongside Silverstone. Jordan Weiss,Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Robert Lawrence are also listed as executive producers.
It’s not clear yet which original cast members aside from Silverstone may return or what the plot will be. In 2023, Stacey Dash, who famously played Dionne Davenport, told Us Weekly that she would “absolutely” return for a sequel as long as Heckerling is involved.
Fan reaction to the upcoming Clueless sequel series has been mostly positive with one commenter writing, “I love the movie Clueless!!! Alicia is so beautiful and I’m ready to see the reboot!!!”
“I always had a crush on Alicia Silverstone,” another declared while several commenters declared their love for the Clueless star.
One critic in the comments questioned the decision to make a sequel series. They wrote, “Why can’t they just leave this movie alone? Hasn’t Hollywood proved that remakes or reboots aren’t always that great.”
