All silk spool fragment locations in Hollow Knight: Silksong

22 September 202510 Mins Read

Finding Hollow Knight: Silksong‘s spool fragment locations might seem like just a nice bonus, but expanding how much silk Hornet can hold is essential as you approach the end of Act 2 and enter Act 3. While you can obtain roughly a third of Silksong‘s spool fragments early in the game, most of the remaining fragments require abilities such as Clawline and items like the Faydown Cloak to acquire.

Below, we list every Silksong spool fragment location and explain how to get them. If you need help getting your bearings, keep our Silksong interactive map handy for easy reference.

All spool fragment locations in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Silksong has 18 spool fragments scattered about Pharloom, and for every two fragments you find, Hornet’s spool can hold a bit more thread. After acquiring all 18 fragments, you can hold enough silk to let Hornet bind twice when the spool is full or use silk skills more frequently. That makes more of a difference than you might think during challenging boss fights, so it’s worth tracking all these down before you start Act 3.

Spool fragment #1 — Mosshome

You’ll need to enter Mosshome via The Marrow’s upper left exit, via the passageway above where you find Shakra. Exit the chamber at the far left, drop down onto the platform, and activate the elevator for easier access to Bone Bottom if you need it. Hop across the platforms to your right, and make your way up. Break the wall under the rosary cache, avoiding the traps as you can, and enter the next room, where you’ll find the spool fragment.

Spool fragment #2 — Above the magma in the Deep Docks

Enter the chamber shown above, and hop your way across the magma. Hornet won’t take damage from it unless she stays still, so if you continue jumping, you’ll be fine. At the far end is a lever. Hit it to move some of the hanging platforms around, and then hop your way back across, using the platforms to reach the ledge on the left side of the room to find a spool fragment.

Spool fragment #3 — Greymoor

In the chamber to the right of the Far Fields entrance, clear the arena battle in the house on the lake to release a bundle of balloons. Then, make your way up the balloons by pogo jumping off them. If you’ve accepted the “Craw Clearing” wish from the Halfway House barkeep, this is a good opportunity to collect some Ragpelt as you go. At the very top, in an alcove on the left, is the spool fragment.

Spool fragment #4 — Bellhart

You can purchase a spool fragment from Frey the merchant in Bellhart for 270 rosary beads after defeating Widow and completing the “Threadspun Town” quest.

Spool fragment #5 — Weavenest Atla

Use the Needolin to open the Weaver door at the eastern end of Mosshome, and progress further in to speak with Eva. Once the conversation ends and you can explore more of the nest, use the teleporter to reach the bottom of the area. Wall jump onto the ledge above the nest’s elevator, go left, and deal with the large enemies. You’ll find this fragment above the water.

Spool fragment #6 —Flea caravan in Blasted Steps

After you move the caravan from Greymoor to the Blasted Steps just outside the Grand Gate, where you fight Last Judge, Mooshka the Fleamaster rewards you with a spool fragment. This can only happen after you’ve entered the Citadel and begun Act 2, and you need to find 14 fleas in total before Mooshka moves the caravan from Greymoor.

Spool fragment #7 — Grand Gate

Climb to the upper left corner of the Grand Gate by using the platforms (you can hit them from underneath to adjust their position) and claim this fragment in a small chamber.

Spool fragment #8 — Below the Ventrica in the Underworks

Exit the Underworks Ventrica station and drop down, avoiding the steam as you go. Enter the room on the left to find the spool fragment and a shortcut to the western half of the Underworks.

Enter the Underworks via the elevator from The Stage where you fought Trobbio, and go left. Carefully work your way above the spikes, until you see an opening in the floor. Hover into it, and at the bottom is a little walkway leading into a rock. At its end, you’ll find a spool fragment.

Spool fragment #10 — Cogwork Core

The Faydown Cloak isn’t necessary for this one, but it certainly makes things easier. From the Cogwork Core bench, drop down to the bottom of the room, and hop along the platforms to the right until you reach a room in the bottom right corner. Enter, wall jump up the shaft, and hit the lever multiple times to open the door. A large clockwork bug will appear, but you can ignore it and duck into the newly opened path. Hit the lever there to open a trapdoor, then follow the tunnel to find a spool fragment.

Spool fragment #11 — Under the elevator in Whiteward

Getting this spool requires a bit of acrobatics, as it’s at the bottom of the elevator shaft in a spot normally covered by the lift carriage. Take the elevator down in Whiteward, and then go left. The path eventually leads you up and back around to a corridor that opens onto the elevator shaft. Wall jump your way up, and stand on the button to call the elevator, then immediately drop back down and enter one of the corridors on either side of the shaft. Wait for the elevator to pass, drop down to the bottom, and grab the spool fragment.

Spool fragment #12 — ‘Balm for the Wounded’ quest in Whiteward

Sherma eventually makes his way to the Citadel and winds up in Songclave. You may need to visit the Choral Chambers spa first and see him there before he appears in Songclave, but either way, complete “Building Up Songclave” by donating 300 rosary beads at the First Shrine’s wish wall, rest at a bench, and then speak with Sherma.

He should mention concern for the suffering pilgrims, at which point Hornet recommends he do something about it aside from just praying. Leave the area, rest at a bench, and return, and Sherma should be gone. On the wish board is a new quest, “Balm for the Wounded.” Sherma is in Whiteward, in a room above the mortician enemies. Enter the room and defeat the three waves of enemies. Sherma thanks you for your help at the end and rewards you with a spool fragment.

Spool fragment #13 — High Halls

After you climb the first waterway and enter the vertical chamber beyond, you can go up or down. For the fragment, go up, using the Faydown Cloak’s double jump. Use the Clawline to grab onto rotating rings, avoid or fight the minister enemies as you come across them, and at the top, break the glass dome and grab the spool fragment.

Spool fragment #14 — Mount Fay

You’ll see this fragment from Mount Fay’s main, open area, though Silksong treats it like part of The Slab (probably because it’s only accessible from The Slab). From the Bellway station, go up, and enter a duct via an exit in the roof. You’ll enter a narrow corridor that only leads left and spits you out where the spool fragment is. If you don’t have the Apostate Key from the Putrified Ducts, you can access this fragment via The Slab’s Choral Chambers entrance.

Spool fragment #15 — Songclave

After you complete “The Wandering Merchant” wish and donate 500 rosary beads to Songclave for the “Strengthening Songclave” wish, Jubilana goes missing again. Accept “The Lost Merchant” wish from the Songclave wish board, and then find her in Memorium. Once she’s back in Songclave, she’ll sell you a spool fragment for 500 rosary beads.

Spool fragment #16 — Hidden cave in the Deep Docks

This one’s a bit of a doozy, and you need the Clawline to make it work. The Faydown Cloak helps as well, though it isn’t essential. Enter Deep Docks from the breakable wall in Far Fields’ bottom left corner.

Drop down, go left, and enter the large chamber. Drop down again, carefully to avoid the lava, and land on the right-most platform. Jump and use the Clawline to reach the wall on the other side, then navigate through the cave of spikes using Cling Grip and the Clawline.

After clearing the spikes, cling to the left wall for safety, and jump and glide toward the red blossoms. Pogo off them, cling to the right wall, and attack the glowing spot on the ceiling to make another path. Use the Clawline to navigate this next path of spikes, and at the end, strike the glowing spot on the floor to open the rest of the path. Follow it around, and it’ll eventually drop you out at the spool fragment.

Spool fragment #17 — Grindle in Blasted Steps

Grindle sells you a spool fragment for 680 rosary beads. However, you’ll need the Faydown Cloak to reach the room where he’s set up shop, as it’s impossible to reach the wall and climb your way up without it.

Spool fragment #18 — Memorium

The Memorium spool fragment is locked behind a platforming challenge. Make your way through the region, climbing up and circling back until the path lets you out in a vertical chamber. Enter the room below the Ventrica station, and drop down the shaft. Activate the Drifter’s Cloak before reaching the bottom to avoid the thorns and enter the room on the right to find a passageway full of thorns. Use the double jump or Clawline to clear the first hurdle, then float down, and cling to the thornless wall on the right. You can use the Clawline to move left and then double jump to reach the next safe point, or jump, dash, and double jump — whatever’s easier for your playstyle. Dash off the wall to safety, and grab the spool in the next room.

While you’re exploring and completing quests like the “Great Taste of Pharloom,” “Broodfeast,” or the “Silver Bells” request, make sure to spend some time progressing the main story as well, as you’ll get some upgrades that make battles easier. After “The Threadspun Town” quest, for instance, you can upgrade your needle to deal more damage and upgrade it again once you get Pale Oil later in the game.
