Alliance Française Toronto, a cultural and educational organization dedicated to highlighting Francophone culture, is launching its 2026-27 cultural season at Spadina Theatre this fall. International theatre and dance will play at the downtown venue alongside live music, free cinema, and more.

The live performance lineup begins on November 6 with C’est la vida from the Lyon, France-based Compagnie De Fakto. It’s a contemporary dance piece set to remixed French classics, including songs by Édith Piaf and Charles Aznavour. Choreographed by Aurélien Kairo, the production was presented at the Avignon OFF Festival this summer.

Created by Virginie Gros and presented by Compagnie Théâtre en Fusion, Colette et la musique is a theatrical immersion into French writer Colette’s connection with the composers of her era. It runs on March 6.

The 147-seat Spadina Theatre will also host concerts throughout the season. Juno Award-nominated singer and theatre artist Ahmed Moneka — who co-created the Dora Award-winning King Gilgamesh and the Man of the Wild, and co-wrote the 2026 Tragically Hip musical — performs at the venue on January 14; his music blends African grooves and Arabic folk melodies with funk, soul, and jazz. On February 13, the Nikamu Mamuitun II collective unites Indigenous and non-Indigenous musical artists for an Indigenous folk concert.

Throughout the season, the Spadina Theatre presents a range of free film screenings, all with English subtitles. The fall lineup includes the Ageless Film Festival, which explores intergenerational relationships and aging, as well as the European Union Film Festival, which showcases a film from each EU member nation. The bimonthly series Jeudi Ciné returns with a slate of French-language thrillers, comedies, animation, documentaries, and dramas.

The cinema program continues into 2027 with the RACCORD Festival and the French & Québécois Film Marathon, two events focused on independent French-language filmmaking.

Beyond Spadina Theatre, Alliance Française Toronto’s galleries will host eight visual art exhibitions throughout the season. These include work by local artists, such as muralist Jimmy Chiale, architectural photographer Florian Brisot, and scholar Syrus Marcus Ware, whose June exhibition will coincide with Pride Month and explore Black activist culture and social justice.
