AMC Theatres to Slash Ticket Prices on These Days of the Week

7 July 20252 Mins Read

AMC Theatres, the world’s largest move theater chain, is slashing ticket prices on the slowest days of the week for moviegoing.

Beginning on Tuesday, July 8, AMC will offer 50% off movie tickets on Tuesdays, in addition to the previously announced 50% off Wednesdays, for those part of the AMC Stubs rewards program.

This will replace AMC’s prior discount Tuesday deal, which offered $5 tickets for Stubs members. In addition to half-priced admission, AMC is discounting its small popcorn and drink combination on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well.

AMC claims that 36 million people are members of the Stubs program, which is free to join for the lowest tier. Online ticketing fees and extra charges for premium large formats, such as IMAX and 3D, will still apply, and certain movies or holidays may be excluded, the company said.

AMC CEO Adam Aron described the new discount plan as part of AMC’s “continued effort” to offer a better value for budget-conscious consumers.

The news comes shortly after the movie theater chain received criticism for a disclaimer on its website about preview times. The company’s online showtime listings now clearly remind patrons that “all showtimes come with 25-30 minutes of previews.”

The decision sparked backlash from customers, with many saying that the advertisements went on for too long. Others appreciated the transparency, saying the disclaimer gave them a better idea of when their movie was going to start.

Only time will tell if AMC’s discount Tuesdays and Wednesdays will get more people into movie theaters this summer.
