American Idol’s stay at the at the Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawaii, continues tonight with the remaining 12 artists from the Top 24 performing for America’s votes for the first time.
They were mentored by Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Josh Groban and this season’s artist in residence Jelly Roll, who joined judges Carrie Underwood,Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan to critique the 12 artists performing:
America will vote for the first time this season and will determine who makes the Top 20.

Now that the second group of 12 have performed, next Sunday night, the Top 20 will be revealed in a three-hour special episode of American Idol.

Carrie said: “I feel that was such a great way to kick off the evening. I also loved that you had your guitar, you’re normally holding on to your guitar, you threw a little caution to the wind and said, ‘I’m going to throw it back here a little bit.’”

It’s a cool thing to watch.”

Lionel said: “Wow! You walk onstage and we go, ‘There’s little Mattie. Oh, my gosh, she’s 15 years old. That’s so nice,’ and then all of a sudden you open your mouth, and you don’t sound like little Mattie anymore. You have a growl in your voice that is so seared, so identifiable to you. I’m telling you, if this is how you start your career, on, my God, the future is yours.”
