You’ll be dawnwalking at 60 fps
Promised as a day-one patch, The Blood of Dawnwalker will have a performance mode to target 60 fps on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. This means that console players can choose between quality (30 fps), balanced (40 fps), and performance mode (60 fps) when the game launches on Sept. 3.
The announcement is a response to fan backlash; in a now-private YouTube video from Aug. 21, showcasing console footage, developer Rebel Wolves only mentioned The Blood of Dawnwalker‘s quality and balanced modes. Although they didn’t explicitly state that there would be no 60 fps mode, many fans interpreted the video as such.
Under IGN’s version of the console gameplay trailer, which is still online, the top comments range from “It’s 2026, 60 fps should be the bare minimum,” to “30 fps on a current gen console in 2026 is criminal.” It looks like Rebel Wolves took the feedback to heart.
In a social media post on X, Rebel Wolves explains that the team deferred the announcement until they felt confident in their ability to deliver a performance mode on day one. “[It] was already in the works, but it was still being tested. We simply weren’t ready to promise it yet.”
Unfortunately, Xbox Series S players won’t benefit from this announcement. For them, The Blood of Dawnwalker will be capped at 30 fps.
