An exclusive look inside Everwild, a new ritual spa experience near Calgary

20 November 20255 Mins Read

Becoming something of a “spa-noisseur” was definitely not on my turning 30 bingo card.

But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve sworn by hot and cold therapy to soothe a number of aches and pains.

So when I had the opportunity to travel to Canmore to get an inside look at Everwild’s unreal new hydrotherapy experience, I couldn’t say no.

Everwild is part spa ritual experience, part boutique hotel. Located just off Highway 1, it’s a convenient and luxurious stay that offers a complete escape from the stressors of daily life.

From the first toe I dipped in the spa’s misty hot pool, I was hooked. Everwild is a journey to pure satisfaction, one where you can gaze longingly at the nearby Three Sisters mountain peaks while massaging a knotted muscle on a hydrotherapy jet.

With a series of large hydrothermal pools, each set to a precise therapeutic temperature, I spent much of my time wading in and out of mineral soaks, and floating in salt baths with my eyes locked on the Rocky Mountains.

Road trip scenery

The picturesque mountain scape offered at Everwild begins on your journey there by car. Sweeping vistas of Mount Fable and Heart Mountain can be seen out your windows as you drive, carving out the blue Alberta sky in jagged peaks.

It’s a preview of the 360° views to come at Everwild, which are especially jaw-dropping in the spa area.

While you soak in the outdoor hydrothermal pools, you can gaze west towards the Rockies and spot Canmore’s iconic Three Sisters peaks in the background.

Everwild offers some of the most sought-after views in the world, and you can take it all in while soaking in a soothing mineral pool. It makes for a perfect pairing, one you didn’t know you needed.

Timeless essentials, elevated details

As Everwild welcomed its first-ever guests, we were greeted with impeccable service, a fresh glass of bubbly and a light bite.

The hotel experience at Everwild truly encompasses the concept of “mountain chic.”

Colourful, art nouveau wallpaper is accented by bold design choices in the hallways and lobby, including portraits of local wildlife in beloved Canadian flannel.

A cozy, cabin-like fireplace near the main reception makes it feel like a mountain escape. But there’s also a keen eye for design elevation seen throughout the Rhythm & Howl cocktail lounge, with mid-century modern accents and emerald green lamps.

In-room amenities are firmly focused on sustainability with the exclusive use of Rocky Mountain Soap Company‘s all-natural bath and body products.

Warm tartan blankets give the loft-style rooms a cabin feel, with nods to Canmore’s ski and snowboard culture throughout.

I felt right at home as I entered my room and admired the high ceilings and wide windows, which offered fantastic day and night views of the outdoor spa and surrounding mountains.

A hydrothermal haven

It’s easy to go from room to spa in a robe and slippers — just take one step in the elevator and hit the “S” button to access the spa. The underground changing area transitions seamlessly into a spa experience, leading visitors through a series of therapeutic rituals.

The spa changing area is inspired by Canmore’s coal mining history, an underground grotto with massage rooms decked out in dark slate with gold and brass accents.

I appreciated the universal change room, which included large private changing stalls with showers. It makes it incredibly easy to visit Everwild for a couple’s spa experience.

You can step away for a moment of privacy before coming together again to delve into the hot pools and steam rooms in pairs or a group.

As I travelled up the stairwell, I was grateful for the evergreen, fleece-lined robe that’s paired with a towel when you visit.

The robe keeps you warm as you travel from ritual to ritual, each space offering a therapeutic release more enticing than the last.

I personally loved watching the mist rise off the hot pool, creating a gentle steam that adds to the mountain ambience.

But there’s a plethora of other offerings to explore as well — dome-shaped yurts with wood-burning fireplaces and hanging Latvian herbs, eucalyptus-scented steam rooms with glowing roofs cracked open like geodes, glacial rain showers, and barrel cedar saunas are just a few of the spaces you can indulge in at Everwild.

A strong focus on herbalism and aromatherapy elevates the spa experience. Spruce and pine can be smelt in the spa reception and changing areas, while rosemary hydrosol is used to garnish health-conscious drinks.

The Nordic-inspired fireplaces in the relaxation lounge and outdoor spa nod to heritage while honouring Canmore’s distinct Canadian identity.

Overall, it’s a truly one-of-a-kind spa experience, one that feels more like a ritual than self-indulgence.

Paying homage to its natural surroundings, Everwild is a must-visit mountain escape.

This destination spa experience officially opens on Nov. 20 and is now accepting bookings into winter and early spring.
