An Ontario village has one of the finest stretches of sandy beaches

9 May 20253 Mins Read

Beach towns and villages are what make Ontario so special in the summer. Port Stanley is an adorable lakeside village in Elgin County, and it’s full of charm. The long stretches of beach are pretty sweet, too.

Walk along the scenic boardwalk, lie out in the sun, and grab a bite. You don’t need to leave the province this summer, a little escape is just a car ride away.

If you’re driving to Port Stanley from Toronto or the GTA, it will take you around three hours. The village is tucked along the shores of Lake Erie in the heart of Elgin County. Parking is available around the beaches and in the village, but because of its popularity in the summer, municipal lots do come with a fee: $4 per hour or $20 per day.

Once you arrive in Port Stanley, be sure to take a stroll down one of the beaches before the sun goes down.

Head over to Port Stanley’s Main Beach and enjoy a walk down the long beach, known as one of the finest stretches of sandy beach on Lake Erie’s north shore. The beaches here are among just 22 others in Canada that have Blue Flag status for commitment to strict water quality and safety criteria.

You can also wander over to Port Stanley’s Little Beach, a 185-metre-long beach secluded by beautiful surrounding trees.

If the weather isn’t cooperating, make a spa day out of it. Blu Harbour Spa offers massages, facials, nail services, and special packages such as the two-person package, which includes a 45-minute couples massage, plus a mani-pedi for two.

End your day in Port Stanley, Ontario, at the beloved Two Forks restaurant. The spot is known for its large menu, creative cocktails, and craft beer. Food options include cornbread, steak frites, burgers, sausage and beer cheese, pan-roasted branzino, and chicken piccata.

Described as warm and cozy, we can’t think of a better place to cap off your day.
